OT: Sheriff's Report on Mo Washington Case

I just read through the whole thing. A 15 yo girl was raped. It was videotaped by the rapists and distributed. One person who received it was the Nebraska player (received child porn). He tried to terrorize/blackmail her by sending it to her (distributing child porn). She's been involved in drug use and self harm through this whole thing. USA Today wrote an article about Nebraska allowing him to play. Link Pretty grotesque allowing him to play. Yes, I realize he hasn't been jailed yet...and probably won't until after the season.
What a solid human being.
I'm just really glad that I don't have to go defending him for the sole reason of his playing for a football team I like.

Not to mention he was busted for possession of drug paraphernalia over the summer...What kind of message does this send to any of their players who are doing the right thing day in and day out (are there any?)

On 9/13/18 the Nebraska authority that was contacted (Ed Sexton) reached out to UNL police to get Washington's contact info.
Later that day, Jamie Vaughn from the athletic dept. called Ed Sexton because he was told by UNL police that police were looking to speak to Washington and asked if he needed a lawyer.
Looks like police running to the athletic dept. first and foremost is alive and well in Lincoln.
Oh and even better later on that page...

There is such a thing as letting the justice system play out, and then there's such a thing as having proof that you have a POS human trash on your team and looking the other way.

God, I thought this was horrible and disgusting, but it's even worse than I thought.
1. He knew it was video of her sexual assault (the scho made people delete the video), which makes the whole thing seem like a threat. Revenge porn is bad enough. But using her rape as a threat!? JFC.
2. I thought Nebraska Athletics people were looking the other way, which is horrible. They're actively running interference for him. I can't even fathom that.
I'm waiting for the ban hammer over there after posting the following: "The man is accused of receiving and distributing child porn featuring a 15 year old being raped by his friends. Who did he send it to, allegedly? The rape victim, after she declined his advances so he could humiliate her to cause her to perform more self mutilation. Read the report and use your conscience on this matter. These are serious allegations that go beyond being worried about his playing time."
What about the important things? What were his stats last week?

I honestly want all those programs to burn. I don't care if that sinks the Big Ten in the process.
I’d respect him and Moos more if they just came out and said we have to win and win now. That is why he is playing.
Any typical person would have been fired from their job, suspended from college, etc... if they did this.
This is a 15 year old child being gang raped, filmed and distributed. Washington and his buddies should be in jail. Washington shouldn't play a second of football for anybody ever. Shame on Scott Frost and Nebraska.

We still have a judicial system here in the USA. The Judge set bail at $30K and he posted it. The case is pending and it is still in the very early stages. Whether or not he should play football pending final resolution is debatable but IMO the nature of the charges (child porn) warrants a suspension by Frost. To claim that he should be in jail is not warranted because the Judge decided that bail was appropriate.
Unless there is a plea deal, the Washington case will likely extend into next year, possibly into Spring practice or even next summer.
Criminals are okay with Cornholer fans if they are good at football. Looking back, they have had some pretty darn good criminals playing pretty darn good football. It all works out.
Some universities get worried about crime and ethics and right and wrong. Not Nebraska, they never have worried about those little inconveniences. Not when the player is good at football.

According to this Judge it is appropriate. Bail hearings primarily involve considerations such as the Defendant's risk to the community and the possibility of flight in addition to the nature of the offense charged. Some Defendants are deemed higher risks than others. This Judge decided Washington was not a high risk of danger to the public or a likely flight candidate or else he would have set bail higher.
Scott Frost - “And I’ll tell you this right now — if there’s anything negative about women, if there’s anything racial or about sexuality, if there’s anything about guns or anything like that, we’re just not going to recruit you, period,” Frost said in July 2018. “Piece of advice for you — what you put on social media, that’s your résumé to the world. That’s what you’re trying to tell the world you’re all about. That’s how you’re advertising yourself. Be smart with that stuff.”
That quote is going to end up crucifying Frost if he continues to play Washington as it should.

The legal system needs to be removed from the debate. Washington’s attorney admitted to possession of the pictures and Washington sent the text. Knowing what he did, should he represent the “N” brand ? Do you feel pride praising Frost’s decisions and Washington’s action each game? Would you defend this kid if he wasn’t a husker?
