Yeah, but most Ivy League schools are pretty stingy with those too. I don't think they provide greater academic scholarships to athletes, but most are committed to providing substantial aid to those who need it. So maybe Tadjo will end up there if he scored in the 99th percentile for the SATs and his family is low income. Or maybe some rich Penn alumni are willing to cover the costs of all student-athletes on the basketball team.But they do give “academic” scholarships.
I knew a kid who played basketball at Brown before the NIL era and he didn't receive any financial support from the school for his education. He would have racked up a few hundred thousand dollars in student debt, but I believe his parents were wealthy and helped him out.
