New to olympic wrestling. Why two bronze medals? Why not make them compete for it?

Arrrrrgh.
I had a brain fart and forget there was a second bronze match. I thought it was go time. This is painful.
Amazingly, because they are trying to minimize matches.
Seems dumb, they have multiple mats, make a complete consolidation bracket!
Repechage and 2 bronzes gives more countries a chance to medal.
And medals mean funding from national governing bodies.
good forbid they wrestle one extra match in each weight class but i digress.
i hear you but a couple more weight classes would be a lot cooler
Yes. This came about when wrestling was at risk of getting dropped from the Oly games. Allows countries that may not medal or medal often to have opportunities.
I think I'm being blocked. I have tried a variety of methods.
