Please explain stalling

Definition of stalling is when you ask an official what the definition of stalling is and proceed to wait and wait for an answer.

Get off my ass—I’ve NEVER given anyone a point for riding.

That said, I have paid a few $$$ for it in my day.
Dude, i wasnt blaming you, my frustration is with the whole riding / stalling fiasco. Get rid of riding time and 90% of this joke goes away. Go to a shot clock? I don't know but what they are trying to do now is not working.
And as for me i was cheap, self abuse is free..

Ref was bad in a world where mediocre officiating is considered good. Considering that Iowa wrestlers were the aggressors and pushed the action in the majority of the matches, the discrepancy in stall calls made was inexplicable and borderline criminal. He appeared inept to me and more concerned with making chatter during the match with no effect on the action on the mat.

Official was human and was obviously not going to help Iowa, and the way TnT act that’s just the way it goes sometimes . Officials talk just like he did throughout the duration of a match. Guessing he made a point to do a little more for btn since he was mic’d up. Iowa came out agressive and Nebraska had a do nothing game plan like they usually do. Iowa being the only wrestling team in the United States that does not game plan opponents did a really nice job in a lot of crucial points in the matches last night. Was thrilled they beat another team just like ISU where everyone said hawks had no chance

I thought the hyperbole was obvious.

And I don't think you can count stalling at the 6:59 mark of the match as a real call, can you?
Yeah that was ridiculous. The ref did that because it looked better for the stat sheet.

Stall calls are fine. But be fair and consistent. He cherry picked his stall calls based off who was wrestling who. Not the action itself.

ISU got a bunch of bogus stall calls aswell in that dual they choked away. A neutral ref that doesn't know the wrestlers and has no dog in the fight would be nice and refreshing

Do we know who this guy is and what his reffing resume includes ? We seem to know info like that for football and basketball officials.

I’d like to see more stall calls in matches for guys that warrant it. The ref seemed to want to make himself look good calling them but they made no sense.
A crab ride, trapping the ankle, dbl boots flailing can be called stalling, breaking a guy down and trying to trap an arm to tilt is not.
Someone that has multiple takedowns and controlling center is never stalling, watching a guy slide out to avoid a takedown is stalling.

I love folkstyle...but would like to see the pushout put in and a revision of wh3n nothing is happening just start them over with the same top and bottom.

Nothing wrong with stalling out with a big lead...but make them attempt to do something

I’ve been around wrestling my entire life and I honestly can’t remember ever seeing an official struggle as much as we saw last night - especially at this level.

The guy didn’t have a clue how to call stalling, he talked to the wrestlers all night, most of which was nonsense.

At one point he said “I need you in the center, guys” as the wrestlers were in the f’n center of the mat.

That dude should be officiating middle school duals.
This. It got to the point of being ridiculous how much he was talking to the wrestlers. Seriously dude, stfu and focus on doing your job better. But being he was paired with angel Rivera, I'm not surprised they both thought the dual was about them.

If you're this ref, it's when Iowa guy is on top and goes 1 second without trying to pin the guy.
This was a ref who wanted to be part of the show. He was either calling stalling or telling them to get to the middle of the mat. I felt like muting my TV just so I didn't have to listen to him. He seemed like a guy who didn't have any glory years so he wants his glory years to be now...

Mute tv (or turn the volume down low) and synch with KXIC on iHeart radio.

Yep. Wouldn't let 2 seconds of hand fighting go without saying something like "you both have to work". He was way too involved, wanted it to be about him for sure.

The stalling calls were inconsistent, he was very consistent much like a broken record about staying in the middle of the mat, and continually saying "top of the head".
