PMac gone for a bit

Wow. Bad news - we are down to 10 scholarship players and Mulvey and Big O don't really play.
Feel badly about Patrick tho. A few years ago we had a FB player that left school a few weeks early in the spring, and came back in the fall with a full explanation and an article or something explaining his ordeal. He did well that fall.

Feel bad for him. Dang.

This team never could afford injuries, sickness, etc.

Next man in, I guess, but we only have 9 scholarship players on the roster who Fran is comfortable going to.

Now that number is down to 8 scholarship players.

Anxiety is debilitating and I can only imagine how bad it can be with the added pressure of the media, fans, family expectations, etc.

15 years ago I think people would be saying "Man up" and/or denying the existence of anxiety. Based on the feedback so far on this message board it seems people have a general acceptance of it and are proud of Patrick for being brave enough to bring awareness to the topic.

I wish him well whether he decides to return or not.

Someone very close to me experienced childhood cancer like P Mac did and is now dealing with some of those same issues. Makes me think there is a connection.

It took a lot of guts to make this public, and I hope it is the first step in Patrick putting this behind him. Like many Iowa fans, I have been pretty critical of his play, without realizing what he was facing. He might be the coach's son, but he has had a lot of adversity to fight through in his life, and we have only made that more difficult. Maybe we all should learn from this, and not make our criticisms so personal. Get better soon Patrick!

I feel for the young man. I have a close relative that has crippling anxiety caused by his OCD. He barely will leave his home. Washes hands like Howard Hughes. So bad he had to go on disability. Mental health is no joke. Hope he gets well but will likely be a lifetime battle.
