The coaching staff knows what Iowa has in the QB & WR rooms this year. It's no secret. While most agree Iowa had no excuse not to land a QB out of the portal immediately following Deacon Hill's record breaking season...Kirk appeared distracted "focusing on bowl prep" and ensuring his son was comfortable in his $4,000,000 home.

There's a new staff is in place on the offensive side of the ball. No more excuses. The transfer portal is wide open and there are hundreds of talented skill position players available. It's safe to say every QB in the portal is better than Hill and the vast majority of the WRs would instantly be in Iowa's two deeps.

The clock is ticking. The transfer portal has been open for a week and it closes for good on April 30th. To fail to bring in a single QBs and WR prospect from the portal to watch the spring game shows one of three things:

1. The staff is perfectly ok with Deacon Hill starting games at Iowa this year and is fine with another year like last year.
2. The staff still lacks foresight by putting all of their eggs in the gimpy Cade McNamara basket.
3. Kirk, along with the new OC and newly promoted WR coach simply cannot recruit.

How hard would it be to get a MAC qb on campus this spring to compete for a starting spot on a Top 25 football team with ZERO talent at QB? I believe 3 of the 4 WRs in Iowa's two deeps have less than 5 catches in their entire career...wouldn't that be a great reason for a portal WR to give Iowa a look?

The sad truth is even though Iowa had the nation's worst WR corp last year, this year's group is even worse. After all, Iowa's top WR last year graduated (Ragaini) and its other starter transferred out (Vines). A third WR, presumed to be in the two deeps, just announced he's jumping ship as well. So to even break even Iowa would have to bring in 3 new WRs at or above the level of the guys they lost. They brought in zero.

The portal closes on April 30 and if the staff fails to bring in at least one QB and one WR, they have done the rest of the team and its fans a huge disservice.

While I agree the Hawks desperately need improvement at the QB position, it won't matter who is brought in....that person won't see the field this season. Maybe next year. Which is fine.

Just any ol QB or WR? First need to have a quality player(s) that want to come to Iowa.

Why would any QB or WR want to come to Iowa, money aside? Until the results change on the field, I'm guessing few impact players will go to Iowa.
Have no fear...instead of bringing a desperately needed portal QB or WR in to watch Iowa's last spring practice and get a feel for kinnick stadium before going into a 3 month dead period...staff brought in one prospect out of the portal...a center out of mighty North Dakota (not NDSU). Considering Iowa already has a pretty solid center, Logan Jones, I guess the hope is the kid comes in to compete for the backup center position. Weird, when I was told by message board know it alls that the reason Kirk hasn't aggressively gone after skill position players was because the squad is "over the scholarship limit and can't recruit anyone else."

Let's face it, roster management or anything cerebral is not this staff's strong suit. Like when they dove into the portal a few years back to grab a 4th string tight end when there was a gaping hole at OL and WR.

Look at the current roster. This year's squad has more scholarship running backs than WRs...even though they only play 1 RB at a time while 3 WRs play on most downs and teams typically have double the number of WRs than RBs.

At least your bowel movements seem to be regular.

Iowa has not had anyone else jump in the portal since Bostick, correct?
Was hoping we see some guys leaving this week. Every player should know where they stand on the depth and development charts. It's spring, there are greener pastures elsewhere for some.

Seriously? No way does Cade stay healthy the entire season. Will be lucky if he is still going after 6 games. I hope I’m wrong.

Come on WR, baby. I've changed, that was the old me. You will be happy now. We can make something great together.

Well if it's going to come from anywhere it's going to be via the portal. Lots of impatient talent sitting behind other talent at the better teams waiting for a turn that may never come.

Griffen Liddle is a Med hardship I believe? There HAS to be at least 5 more players heading out of the program. Who are those guys?
I’m just guessing here but I think looking at the roster it is likely Jazz Patterson, Van Kekerix, Montgomery, Myslinsky, Vanderbusch, Bowie? Along with 1 or 2 surprises?

With respect to the offense, there just aren't a lot of better options for a lot of these players and they know that. They're getting a free education and for a lot of them that's good enough today.

Who's on your list?

Docthterman (sp) said they already have targeted a couple QB's not in the portal YET that will be entering soon.
Heard him on the M&C podcast FWIW. Need a guy that can/ is able to play now unless you want Deacon??

Have you been paying attention since Saturday? CM can barely walk. The staff saying he'll be ready by June? 100% BS.
I have, posted earlier what the impact of a ready now QB would have. Trying to have realistic options instead of listing everything that we know won't happen.

I believe Kirk is on with the boys at On Iowa Live tonight for almost the full hour. Dochterman should be on there also. Of course Kirk won't tip his hat.

Not getting a portal QB will happen then? Gotcha
Calm down, regardless of who they bring in it probably won't be good or fast enough for you stud. My comment was based on my opinion and previous comments of all our perceived flaws. I don't have to provide you a list of shit. Do another line.

You just don't get it do you Ferentz_Fag? They need a QB desperately. A capable option for 2nd string. If CM goes down, he is the guy. What do you not get?
Not sure what you are getting at....not disagreeing with you. Stop at III

The transfer portal isn't a menu, just because you want a player doesn't mean you get them. Simple concepts seem to elude your basic grasp.
