Dwight Hinson is a good dude. He coaches my son, and is very supportive of everyone in the sport of wrestling, regardless of their school colors.
Ask any Iowa State fan who they want to beat the most this year. Some would say Penn State, but most would say Iowa. That’s because Iowa is unquestionably a rival of Iowa State. That’s also not an opinion. It’s a fact.It might be a rivalry in terms of fan interest for some, but anyone who's followed for any period of time can tell you this has been absolute domination for nearly two decades.
Any of the duals that have been relatively competitive were the result of an Iowa injury(2018) or Iowa resting starters.
That's not opinion, that's a fact.
I didn't declare the order of matches. Stoll had to win for Iowa to win. He did. I was more focused in on those that say that ISU hasn't even been close in the dual for about 20 years. That dual was just a few years ago.Stoll didn’t seal anything. HWT wasn’t last. It wasn’t decided until ADS fought off his back in the last match of the dual.
This is all in the very article that you posted and told me I had “better read” which is funny because it’s obvious you didn’t.

You have to be old enough, going with 50+ on that.Remember when the dual with ISU meant something?
Yea, me neither.
I think he was responding to my post where I brought him up and talked about meeting himThat was random. But yea, Dwight is a good dude. Met him at a wedding years back not long after his career had finished. Talked wrestling for a few hours.
Remember when coaches used to smoke cigarettes on the bench during those duals? (I ain’t making this shite up, btw.)You have to be old enough, going with 50+ on that.
Not every team considers each other as a rival.Ask any Iowa State fan who they want to beat the most this year. Some would say Penn State, but most would say Iowa. That’s because Iowa is unquestionably a rival of Iowa State. That’s also not an opinion. It’s a fact.
Which is exactly why it's a rivaliowa could lose 2 in a row to pst, ok st, or even cornell and we would all be pissed, but if iowa lost 2 in a row to ist we would all be calling for a coaching change, fact.
Because it would be embarrassing as hell and with both teams at full strength should never happen. If we lost 2 in a row to UNI in football we'd be calling for a coaching change too, that doesn't mean UNI is a football rival, lol.iowa could lose 2 in a row to pst, ok st, or even cornell and we would all be pissed, but if iowa lost 2 in a row to ist we would all be calling for a coaching change, fact.
I live in Ames. Trust me, the Cael connection is not a distant memory. Not every team considers each other as a rival.
I'm sure ISU does indeed consider the Hawks as a rival.
And I bet I couldn't find a single Clone fan that would say they want to beat Penn State. The Cael connection is a distant memory.
Was it the double field goal block? It’s been awhilewhen was last time we played uni in football
You mean him being a slum lord?I live in Ames. Trust me, the Cael connection is not a distant memory.
Anyone that thinks this is a rivalry is looking back to the early 2000s.If you think Iowa v Iowa State is a rivalry in wrestling, here are some other's you'd enjoy:
Tom v Jerry
Wile E Coyote v Road Runner
Harlem Globetrotters v Washington Generals
Hammer v Nail
We get it, you hate Iowa State. Ask Tom and Terry if they think it's a rivalryAnyone that thinks this is a rivalry is looking back to the early 2000s.
I'll do that next time I go to film a practice. We get it, you hate Iowa State. Ask Tom and Terry if they think it's a rivalry
174 was a huge swing. Myles Wilson was winning when he had to injury default. Somewhere between a 3 and 9 point swing there.I think you better read this article. It backs up my claim.
Iowa Tops Iowa State, 19-18, in Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The third-ranked University of Iowa wrestling team defeated Iowa State, 19-18, on Saturday in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series.hawkeyesports.com
That's why "context" is important. Some of our fans here just look at scores to form an opinion.174 was a huge swing. Myles Wilson was winning when he had to injury default. Somewhere between a 3 and 9 point swing there.
Carver West is like a second home. You can call it what you want, but for the most part it's the Hawks hammering on the clones. Sure, there is a close meet now and then but year after year after year we are winning. I do miss the days of a home and away when meets were consistently competitive and a lot more exciting. Go Hawks
OU and OSU call it a rivalry. Iowa and Minny football call it that too. This is the first time I've heard of the concept that if one team dominates the other, it isn't considered I rivalry.
Want to know why it's the first time I've heard this? Because it isn't actually a thing. It's dreamed up by #TTH mouth breathers.
Do you agree with the premise that rivalries should be somewhat competitive? It might be if they were members of the same conference. This is the first time I've heard of the concept that if one team dominates the other, it isn't considered I rivalry.

Things change. But not reel fast in the State of Minds.Anyone that thinks this is a rivalry is looking back to the early 2000s.
tOSU vs Michigan in football is considered one of the sports biggest rivalries. Michigan did not win for almost a decade until last year... It has still been considered a rivalry throughout that timeframe.Do you agree with the premise that rivalries should be somewhat competitive? It might be if they were members of the same conference.
Cause I do. When the outcome isn't in doubt, only the score, how much enjoyment is there?
No different than the Bedlam series in Oklahoma in wrestling. You think Cowboy fans really get enjoyment from piss pounding the Sooners every year?
Outcomes don’t matter. It’s mostly how much the fans hate the other school.tOSU vs Michigan in football is considered one of the sports biggest rivalries. Michigan did not win for almost a decade until last year... It has still been considered a rivalry throughout that timeframe.
Nebby more a rival than Minny, to me anyway. That's why "context" is important. Some of our fans here just look at scores to form an opinion.
I'd argue that Minnesota is not much of a rival either.
Minnesota fans and their "Who Hates Iowa" chants/clothing when there's a matchup with a different school is especially stupid.Rivalries are mostly fan generated, thus, completely subjective imo. Rivalries are what you want them to be. Minnesota considers Iowa a rival and always will. Y’all might not.

Iowa / ISU is the very definition of a rivalry…. to say otherwise is silly….. it’s not just one sport it’s all of them….. just because Fans might not get fired up doesn’t mean the coaches and wrestlers don’t….. remember last year in ames after the dual?
We live in a low population state with two P5 schools in it and you don’t think it’s an intrastate rivalry??? Come on man…
I’ve told him several times to never change….. and he never doesIn Mitch’s defense, his ISU/Minn schtick is pretty good. They just can’t all be winners.
