Predict Hawkeyes vs ISU results

Cubs and Bears……..🥲
Awwwnaw, the Cubs and Bears are the reason Shea, Brennan, Justin and I are all Chiefs fans! My dad is the biggest Cardinal die-hard ever, and naturally, I’ve never met someone who hates a team more than he hates Cubs fans. Lol, we were literally raised hearing Cubs-bashing every single day growing up… and as a little kid, I started arguing Cubs-Cardinals with people at recess starting in Kindergarten or so.

So for whatever reason, my dad is a Bears fan. I had a difficult time not hating that team, but Dad tried getting me to like them… but this was a difficult task, for it was the Jim Harbaugh era of the early 90’s and those Bears team were the most boring squads to have ever existed. Then I noticed that the same Cubs fans I bickered with at recess were ALSO Bears fans… I could NOT root for the same team as these people 😆… The next Bears snorefest I watched, Kevin Butler shanked like 3 field goals including a potential game winner at the end vs the Raiders and I looked at my dad and told him that I would never root for that team ever again.

Next day I had a box of Frosted Flakes and on the back it had pics of all of the NFL team helmets. I decided via process of elimination that I’d pick my new team based on which helmet I thought was the coolest… Got down to the Chiefs and Bengals… chose the Chiefs! So much for that playoff game last year tho! 🤦‍♂️ 😆

My brothers didn’t have a choice… it was either, become a Chiefs fan like big, dumb brother Josh or they would be razzed for life…. Haha, the two youngest ones (Shea and Brennan) are now every bit the Chiefs fan that I am now! Haha, I feel like I’ve already saved them from years of Cutler-Rex-Trubiski torment!

Pretty sure my dad is a closet Chiefs fan now 😉! Haha, I catch him rooting for them when he doesn’t think I’m around. I think my logic of “how can you root for the same team as Cubs fans” comments that I’ve held over his years for 32 years now sunk in a bit! 😆

Meanwhile….

I admit, the 90’s Bulls teams were an impossible team to not root for. I always sported those green Charlotte Hornets starter coats… but I admit… I was certainly more interested in what was going on with Jordan-Pippen-Rodman-Paxson-Cartwright-Horace-etc. than I was Larry Johnson, Muggsy Bogues and Alonzo Mourning… no matter how much I denied it!

I never said being a Cubs/Bears fan was easy….. not for the faint of heart

I used to say the same thing about being a Chiefs fan….

just takes one home run QB draft choice and the worm can turn quickly!

Holy cow the Bears have been tortured with terrible QB play for decades now…
I’ve noticed

I’m optimistic about the new GM and coach….. they got out of several bad contracts drafted fairly well with what picks they had….. next year they’ll have the most cap space in the NFL and a first round pick….. we’ll see what they can do

Wasn’t that fun?

That game certainly had me tooting. In fact I damn near shit myself watching Josh Allen make some of those throws.
I was at the Divisional playoff game between Buffalo and KC last year. Quite possibly the craziest NFL game ever played!

Josh Allen, as much as I hate to admit it… yeah, he’s the real deal… he looks even more amazing at QB in person.

And Mahomes was more amazing to watch that night than he was. INSANITY

They would have gotten some nice production from him from Matt Nagy! Lord what a stupid draft they had that year.

Who was HC that year? (2017)… was it John Fox?
yep but that was on the Gm…. gave away draft picks to move up and pick trubisky in front of Mahomes and Watson

He was Mahomes’s OC his rookie season…

(the year he sat…😏)

And he didn’t call the plays. Andy Reid is the guy behind that offense. And the idiocy that was the Bears offense in the Nagy tenure is just more proof. He was not only bad, but twice during his tenure he turned over play calling to the OC, the offense immediately improved, only to have Nagy take it back. He’s an absolute clown who would have wasted Mahomes.

Can ANY of them make 157?

KC confuses me every year as far as how much control the OC has in comparison to Reid. It seems like every time there is a miscommunication, Mahomes and Bieniemy are at each other’s throats.

How could Reid have done with Trubisky?

Reid typically builds his offenses around what he has at QB instead of trying to fit his QB into a system. But if Mahomes was not there, I think they stand pat <less> with Alex Smith.

I think we're safe scrubbing Andy from the list.
I think we’re safe scrubbing 12 yr old Andy from the list of potential 157’s!!

One of my all time favorite photos. The size difference between Andy Reid and the other competitors is sure to make anyone smile.

It was easy to tell when he was calling the plays 🤯

Bump

125- ISU has to be favored with Lee out.

133- Slight favorite Iowa but pretty close.

141- Woods will be favored for the W but a tough match.

149- Murin favored but explosive guys have given him trouble and Johnson just topped #2. Whether or not Johnson gasses will be a big factor.

157- Toss up match with weakest weight for both teams.

165- Carr is the favorite no matter how much we like PK.

174- kind of a toss up.

184- I have Coleman as a favorite unless I see something from Assad I haven't seen. The wrestle off result vs Micky Griffith not giving me warm fuzzies.

197- Warner slight favorite at best, kind of a toss up. Bastida's style is not easy to manuver.

285- Cass favored but their guy not a bum.

Definitely a match we could lose without Lee.

174 should be fun. A couple of high risk big move guys going at it.

Do, we beat them by six to nine points w/ Lee in lineup?

I just read through 4 pages of smugness, but this dual is going to be 7-3, 6-4, or even 5-5.

125: #23 Terukina is favored over #122 Ybarra
133: #10 Teske is favored over #20 Redding or #25 Attasauov, but that's an NCAA round 1 match-up, and this is Teske's first competition at 133
141: #2 Woods is favored over freshman Swiderski, but no one knows how high Swiderski's ceiling is
149: #8 Murin is favored over freshman Johnson
157: I'm betting on Siebrecht, but #71 Kraisser is technically favored (beating Kraisser would increase Coby's rank from #122 to top 70)
165: #2 Carr is favored over #22 Kennedy
174: #24 Swafford is favored over freshman Gaitan
184: #5 Coleman is favored over #11 Assad
197: #3 Warner is favored over #7 Younger--but raise your hand if you think the winning margin will be more than 1 point
285: #3 Cass is favored over #24 Schuyler

In summary, this is going to be a good dual. Looking forward to seeing our lesser-ranked guys step up (come on, Ybarra), and our best guys put the hammer down.

Starters being out gives some backups a chance to make a name for themselves.

Now it's just a matter of doing it.

Home crowd can't hurt.

That’s not the question haha. Don’t put people in a panic, but I suppose people will panic either way. After all we’re a week out
It really is the question to me….. Spencer can beat anyone when healthy. The only reason he’ll go before tourney time is to develop lungs for post season, imo.

I’m guessing a big goal of him getting healthy, at this point, will be staying healthy. And he has bigger fish to fry, dtr, than a last season of NCAA duels.
