President Biden should not run again in 2024

One thing I will say about Harris. Just a little reminder...

Dan Quayle was considered a buffoon.
Spiro Agnew was considered a crook (he was, and resigned because of it).
Richard Nixon was Ike's VP...enough said.
FDR went through 3 different VP's, including Iowa's own Henry Wallace.
Then there's Dick Cheney, Bush II's hatchet man. Many (here included) thought he was the Antichrist.

I could go on...

My point being that VP's haven't always been the most popular person in DC throughout our history - hardly a "disqualification" for Harris. My personal opinion is it goes with the job.

This is soooooooo ridiculous and frankly, frustrating. If this doesn't show you just how messed up politics are in this country right now, I don't know what will. Biden is, and will be, the candidate for one reason, and one reason only. To keep a narcissistic criminal pig out of office. And rightfully so. He is the one sure fire candidate that will beat trump.

Here is the bottom line for republicans. Put the **** up or shut the **** up. Period. end of story. If biden is so incompetent and shouldn't be in the oval office, then it shouldn't be too hard for you to beat him. Yet, they continue to trot out a turd with 4 indictments and 91 felony charges against him. Unbelievable.

I just don't get the cringe. It isn't partisan. There are Democrats who I don't care for but she doesn't bother me. Quayle was despised from the start. He was laughed at because of Benson's debate comment and misspelling potato - correcting a child who spelled it right. Kamala has been straight up despised. It's silly.

You are being partisan. Or you just started paying attention to politics. There is a long list of despised VP's. And why do some of you just insist on playing the race card. Here is a newsflash for you. Some people simply don't like her politics and/or her personality. Kind of like you with Kim Reynolds. Or, do you just hate white, powerful women?

I liked your last post. But this one is just plain dumb.

LOL...not in my lifetime. People hardly have mentioned them.

Yeah, I'm sure that Kamala being the first black woman as VP has NOTHING to do with any of it from Republican voters. You're trying to gaslight. I'm not falling for it.

One f’n third (allegedly) of those who identify as GOP are “MAGA” and of late some of them are starting to soften up on supporting him because they have enough savvy to see what the rest of us in the party are saying over and over:
He can’t win
He’s not the only one who can successfully push the agenda that they supported
He’d be a lame duck from day one
HE IS ALSO TOO OLD

Pure bullshit. His support is as strong as ever. He has lost zero ground in the nomination polls.

I think you make an interesting point but it’s still not a reason to carry on having poor choices for VP.

There are many better options than Biden that would beat Trump or Desantis in a general election. Here is an off-the-top-of-my-head wish list of potential candidates - there are others too, but I would vote for any of these over Biden/Trump/Desantis.

Whitmer
Klobuchar
Buttigieg
Polis
Bennet
Raimondo

I recognize that not all of these candidates could win the dem nomination, but I am very confident any of them would trounce a far right Republican candidate as they would easily garner the independent vote and the never Trump moderate republicans (if there are any left in the party).

And all of them would be more capable than Biden is likely to be over the next four years.
Are they really better options when he's the incumbent? I am not an historian, but has there an incumbent that was pushed aside by his party foe a presidential election?

There are tons of reasons why she isn't liked. They've been plastered on here over and over again. For me it started during the Dem primary when she declared on national TV that we need to get rid of the entire insurance industry. Then magically within 24 hours of realizing how stupid of a stance that was, completely reversed her stance. From there it was obvious with everything she said going forward that she was an empty suit, happy to say whatever just to get her out of the room without looking stupid. And she has failed at that quite often.

Feel free to not cringe at any or all of these quotes by her.

“It is time for us to do what we have been doing. And that time is every day. Every day it is time for us to agree that there are things and tools that are available to us to slow this thing down”

"Culture is — it is a reflection of our moment and our time. Right? And present culture is the way we express how we're feeling about the moment and we should always find times to express how we feel about the moment. That is a reflection of joy. Because, you know…it comes in the morning..."

“We must together. Work together. To see where we are. Where we are headed, where we are going and our vision for where we should be. But also see it as a moment to, yes. Together, address the challenges and to work on the opportunities that are presented by this moment.”

“What else do we know about this population, 18 through 24? They are stupid!”

“So, Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So, basically, that’s wrong, and it goes against everything that we stand for.”

I am simply referring to their ability to play the role we elect them to play. Biden no doubt will have a competent team around him next term, but I honestly believe he is slipping and doubt he has the mental or physical capacity to meet the demands of the job for the next four years. So yes, learning curve and all, I believe there are several options better than Biden.

Couldn’t say about an incumbent pushed aside…not sure either.

I really could not care less if you believe the truth or not. That is up to you and is all part of your partisan schtick. And, from now on, I will just assume you hate powerful white women every time you rip Kimmy a new one.

None of this is new information. Like I said, people have been all over her case since the start. I have watched her say multiple things that weren't word salad that I agree with. You're an independent...do you agree with ANYTHING she advocates for?

I agree with her policy stances and don't focus on some of the dumb shit others do. But again, that's our country. It brought us W because Gore was boring. Beyond stupid. It's about policy.

You're first point was a stupid mistake by Kamala. I agree.

I don't disagree. However, I also believe it is too late in the game for one of those you mentioned to get the necessary push. Those folks need to be preparing now for 2028.

And water is wet

Beside not even being physically capable to do the job, our country is in much worse global and economic position. That isn't even getting in to the mess that he has allowed at the border.
And yet the country is one helluva lot better than when he took over.

But for your sake, trump and the rest of you maga scum, are trying to turn it into a shithole.

Stop saying "they" and "them" like you aren't in that group. You don't want to break with Trump - you just want a Trump who can slip under the radar. You MAGAts still control the party. Anyone who does get the nomination is just Trump-Lite. As for the "agenda" YOU support...lol.

Oh STFU my God are you annoying.
I don’t want Trump.
Am I okay with his judicial choices? Yep.
His tax cuts? Yep
His energy policies? Yep
Do I want someone else besides him or Joe? Yep!

Pure bullshit. His support is as strong as ever. He has lost zero ground in the nomination polls.
Nearly two-thirds of Republicans — 63 percent — now say they want the former president to run again, according to new polling from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. That’s up slightly from the 55 percent who said the same in April when Trump began facing a series of criminal charges. Seven in 10 Republicans now have a favorable opinion of Trump, an uptick from the 60 percent who said so two months ago.

LOL...he had no judicial choices... they were made for him...stolen for him. His tax cuts indisputably went to the wealthiest Americans. Period. He had no energy policy so I have no idea what you're even talking about. And when he runs against Biden, you will vote for him again. You might come here and deny it but It's as safe a bet as it's possible to make.

I mean really. How is this even possible?

Even if he isn't, his base won't vote for the party that didn't nominate and/or protect him from the evil Deep State. The turnout will be either much lower or a third party (Trump) will get a record number of votes.
Very possible.

Columnists call for Biden to drop Harris, pick new running mate

Several columnists have an idea on how to make President Joe Biden more electable in 2024: Drop Vice President Kamala Harris and pick a new running mate.

Yes, voters think Biden may be too old to serve another four years, according to recent polls, but three columnists believe that a stronger running mate will gain traction in the country or even in the party.

In a piece urging Biden not to run again, Washington Post columnist David Ignatius suggested as a backup plan that Biden could replace Harris with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass or Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

Ignatius says voters are sensibly focusing on Harris because of Biden’s age, while noting that Harris is less popular than Biden, with a 39.5 percent approval rating, according to the polling website FiveThirtyEight.
“Biden could encourage a more open vice-presidential selection process that could produce a stronger running mate,” Ignatius writes.
Biden himself has committed to Harris as his running mate for 2024. He said last year, “She’s going to be my running mate, No. 1. And No. 2, I did put her in charge. I think she’s doing a good job.”
In a New York Magazine Intelligencer column, Eric Levitz floats several options to replace Harris including Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.), Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) and Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Ill.).

“To be sure, replacing Harris with another running mate is not a great option,” Levitz writes. “It’s just that Democrats have no good ones. It is risky to switch out the first Black and female vice-president for someone else. But it is also risky to saddle an 81-year-old nominee with an exceptionally unpopular running mate who — if all goes well — will be all but guaranteed the party’s nomination in 2028.”

However, dumping Harris could come with significant backlash among Black voters — a category of voters Biden needs in 2024 that served him a major victory in 2020. Harris’ role as vice president marked an important achievement being the first woman to ever hold her office and the first person of Black or South Asian descent to do so.

But as journalist Josh Barro writes in his newsletter “Very Serious,” “Harris’s role as a draw for black voters is more theoretical than demonstrated” since she has never had a core political base among Black voters “because she has never been elected in a jurisdiction with a large black population.”

In Harris’ place, Barro suggests Whitmer as Biden’s running mate.

“[Biden] has the opportunity to pick a running mate who’s more appealing to voters than Kamala Harris, more credible as a next-generation leader of the Democratic Party than Kamala Harris, and more comforting to voters who consider the possibility that his running mate might succeed to the presidency than Kamala Harris,” Barro writes.

Joe has never been a smart man, now he's a not so smart, senile man,.. My concern is who is actually pulling the strings with this administration,.. because it's certainly not Joe.

But why? No one seemed to care about that when Reagan was essentially a sock puppet.
