Regardless if our team is the BEST in the country we love HAWKEYE wrestling and its proud tradition. With that being said we OBVIOUSLY must have the best chat room because you cant swing a dead cat in here without hitting a PSU Troll or an UBER PSU fan just slobbering over the fact that they have the best team right now. That's the problem... you have a good team and you are at the top...now go back to your $hitty Chat room and talk and brag amongst yourselves as nobody here gives a flying F#&K about your team. That is EXACTLY why we don't call this the PSU chatroom. You guys should really raise some more cash or ask everyone who says the WE ARE deal to pony up and buy a better football Coach because its been DECADES since you were even relevant on the National stage... try beating Ohio State or Michigan to start.
For not giving a flying F#&K you sure spend a lot of time talking about us.

You make little to NO sense do you realize this? Jon Kolb was STRONG!!!! Not just Bench press strong, but REAL STRONG!!! The LARD asses of today would NOT get the best of him. Hell I played in a league where most of the players were former college football players. From time to time they would have me at O-line. At the time I was under 200 pounds and most of the D-lineman were much bigger/heavier then me.

I honestly was surprised at how well I did. Being a former Wrestler, being STRONG and in shape, I more then held my own!

As far as SPEED, I am not talking about a timed 40 or other BS!!!! I am talking about ON FIELD with equipment real world speed. WATCH the videos of him catching people from behind, it is remarkable!!!!

ALL HRs are measured today using many modern technologies. If for example a ball hits the upper deck, they can give a very accurate prediction of how far it could have gone. MANTLE is STILL KING!!!
Let me explain about an outlier. I know Jon Kolb was very strong, as was Mike Webster, Dbal, Anadrol , and test will do that to you. Those lads aren't passing a drug test these days. Maybe they can do some work around, but come on.

The length of home runs in the day were greatly exaggerated, along with Mantle'. He breaks it down here:

Still, these guys are outliers, freaks, this is not the average player. Maybe you need some definitions because right now you are a living version of the Dunning-Kruger effect. Here are some definitions for you:

Outlier , in regards to statistics :

a
: a statistical observation that is markedly different in value from the others of the sample
Values that are outliers give disproportionate weight to larger over smaller values.

Or an exception does not prove a rule or help an argument.

Nah, I’ll stay. About 233 years ago, some fabulously forward-thinking men (often disrespected today) had the revolutionary thought that the bedrock of a new nation was the importance of allowing all voices and opinions. Because of that simple, life-affirming, some might argue “world-altering” right, you’ll sometimes hear mine. Not to gloat (I know Lion success isn’t guaranteed). I visit for fresh insights on different teams and intel on Spencer, a kid I’ve rooted for longer than any Hawk fan. While here, I may read something that triggers a response. If that upsets you, look away.
Just thank our Founders before you do.

Funny how "your home board" does NOT have these same rights!!!! Maybe you are on the wrong side? Once more, ALL those on your board, do not support your views. I have proven this over and OVER again!!! You also say you follow Spencer Lee? I must assume you are a fan? Yet you said NOTHING on your board in his defense!?!?!?

So what does that make you????

Not illegal. But PD
Then you’ll have to get off my lawn.

It doesn’t matter who is wrestling and putting their opponents at risk of serious injury. I noticed PSU, in my opinion, works these techniques and they are coached to use it. It really does piss me off because, in this case, Franek didn’t put himself in danger.

I don’t believe it would have changed the outcome of the matches. It’s just not necessary to work the toes out perpendicular to the knee and yank on it.

I’ve yet to hear anyone defend the technique and rationally explain why it’s necessary?

Franek situation was called for PD. I thought you were confused and saying it was illegal

I don’t know your issue with any hall monitor. You have that giant thread, so I assumed all was well, until I read you were on timeout. Guessing temporary?
Yes, all my views are NOT supported there, nor should they be. Life is boring when all agree, more stimulating when we don’t. I’m not chasing “likes” when I post, that’s for damn sure.
Still a relative newbie in both camps, I HAVE supported Spencer there, I just don’t belabor the point. Some have disdain for him they’ll take to grave, and I won’t waste time fighting it. Doesn’t mean I don’t support Spencer, or that I don’t appreciate learning more about what he’s doing from GIA.
I’m fine with whatever that makes me. And I hope your free and unique voice is restored on HVI.

just because you can be here doesn't mean you should.i would never go to someone else's home and act like you clowns do.
This isn't a home, it's no one's personal domain. It's more like a public place or a marketplace that is open to the public dealing with a subset of fandom. Like a retail outlet. I'm sure rivals likes engagement and traffic on their sight, just like any other business and who it comes from doesn't matter to them

No, it's not a personal domain, but it is a page designated for Iowa Hawkeye Wrestling Fans to come and discuss our favorite team. Many of us are quite passionate about Iowa Wrestling and wrestling in general. None of us come here to be badgered or trolled by fans of other schools. I don't come here to read arrogant psu fans throwing their snide comments in all the time. There are good and respectful posters from other teams that come here, and they are welcomed. Most psu fans that come here are overbearing arrogant jerks.

keep telling yourself whatever it takes to justify rude behavior.

I guess its high time I break radio silence and make my first comment in 7 years. You're absolutely right. This is your home and we fans of other teams should act like guests when we visit. I drop in about once a day to just to see what's happening and how everyone is doing. I admire and respect the passion Iowa fans have and share towards their team and this sport that we all love. When I come here, I'm in your home and on your turf. I've "liked" a few comments lately but that's about it. I have no intentions of ever being an overbearing arrogant jerk but sadly there are many on my side of the fence that are. For that I apologize, we all deserve better than that. Frankly, some of the stuff that my team's fans post on here are an embarrassment. Please keep in mind there are some likeable opposing fans out there.

I'll be sure to touch base in another 7 years just to see how y'all are doing!!
That is all.
You're dismissed!!

Complaining about PD is complaining just to complain. The ref standing over the action has the best view of the action. These same people complaining would be bitching if an ACL was torn because the ref didn't stop it. Arguing takedown calls is one thing but arguing PD is just being get off my lawn guy
I called it illegal based on your response above, because I felt it was worth complaining about, therefore, I called it illegal. You don’t seem to have an issue with the technique and I do. I’ll leave it there.

If you use social media, and this is also social media, you are the product. The owners of sight want engagement because more people that traffic the sight the better they do.

Hell most sports are like that these days. It’s all money and the use fandom to make money. Nothing wrong with that but it’s more about that than anything else.

Arriving and departing on a high note, all in a solitary post. Slick move, @Pale ryder.
True, too. Plenty of arrogance here and in HVI from certain Lion fans. Some don’t know or care how it belittles them. And, yes, it will continue. As @AFHawk86 said, block the worst of us. Beyond that, know that many visit only to seek or share different insights and perspectives on teams and athletes. Some even to swap ticket, event, or travel intel. That’s the upside of a social site.
Downside is how pathetically easy it is to badger and taunt. To @bourbon n blues ‘s point, site owners (Rivals.com, in this case) likely even prefer high-volume antagonistic engagement over lower-volume civility. Traffic is their gold.

No, I disagree, the majority of them that come here, are here for one reason. Exactly how my last sentenced described it.
This. There are very few PSU fans here who are tolerable. Some Nitwits come to the Iowa board and act like they have an interest because they've lived in Iowa, were fans of an Iowa wrestler hailing from PA or maybe they know somebody from Iowa. Or perhaps they tried wrestling in junior high when Iowa was winning championships? All just phony attempts to rationalize or use to defend why they are here...

Inevitably, the proud arrogant alter ego can't be held back and the rude, badgering, snarky behavior comes to the surface, as evident above.

I compare a fan board to a neighborhood bar. If you're an outsider, feel free to come mingle and discuss wrestling and share differing opinions but keep it on an even keel and better yet "know your audience". Most arrogant Nitwits here wouldn't be acting this way if they were out in a bar in Iowa or if all of us were sitting around sharing a beer...at least not for long because Iowa folks wouldn't tolerate this behavior. But the drivel continues because of the "douche bag trait" nearly all PSU fans seem to have but only few can control...

Like that neighborhood bar analogy. Okay, so I won’t rationalize my visits anymore, but I won’t stop coming in occasionally for a beer, either ;).

I've known PR for well over 30 years now. Our paths crossed when our sons both wrestled in an elementary school tournament back in PA. His son's team hosted that tournament and PR was the announcer. During the National Anthem, he noticed a few people talking and he called them out for it and asked that the Anthem be played again. During the replay, he saw a guy sitting down with his hat on and once again, called him out. And, we replayed the NA a third time. That's my first memory of this dude. Since both of us are jarheads,we pretty much hit it off right from the start. Now, we both have grandsons that wrestle and once again our paths have crossed.

I'm sharing this story just so you know he's a humble man but also a man of integrity and he truly means everything he posted. It probably will be another 7 years till he posts on here again. Provided that the old fart is still alive in 7 years!

I guess people have their own opinions when it comes to the national anthem but playing it and stopping it and playing it and stopping it and playing it. Is ridiculous. I have friends who stand, sit, wear their cap, take it off, hand on their heart or not. Doesn’t mean they’re not patriotic.

is that story supposed to make people like him?

seems like overly controlling weirdo...

"no guys, he's cool...he just won't let any event continue unless everyone in attendance does EXACTLY what he wants during the national anthem..."

has he ever been to an orioles game? does he make them redo the anthem until no one shouts "Os!"?

Seriously? He is from a different time(the story referenced is from 30 years ago) where serving your country was done with absolute pride and the flag and national anthem represented that in every way. To him, what they did was not only a direct personal insult, but also one to the country he takes pride in.

By now, I am sure he is aware of how things have changed. He may not like it, but I am sure he doesn't do it anymore. If he tried, there would be too many people doing it for him to stop...

if you want to go down the culture war rabbit hole, be my guest

but it is objectively weird for one guy to force the anthem to be played 3 times because he was personally insulted by the actions of a handful of people - and that the event could not proceed until everyone's behavior met his specific approval (that whole "its a free country" thing)

If they are sitting, talking or not taking their hat off during the National Anthem they are not Patriotic.

It's not like he was just a guy sitting in the stands. He was basically in charge of the National Anthem as the announcer, and, as usually is the case in most high school events, he is the one that clicks play.

May I ask how old you are? Because I am not that old and still remember similar things back when I was wrestling in that exact 30 years ago time frame...

Has anyone else ever wondered why we need a patriotic litmus test at every sporting event? And why only sporting or military/gov’t events? The beginnings of this trend started in the 1920’s. Google it for an interesting read.
