Question- Young or Gunther

Seems like quite the conclusion based on message board fodder. Also not sure that Young was a big enough recruit to get “large” scholarship money. Plus Gunther scored NCAA tourney points last year so he didn’t exactly suck.

I should've put "if they are in a battle." Young was a guy that was probably given 50% or more to. Gunther doesn't suck but that was at 165, where he looked a little small.

Why is anyone thinking these two won't wrestle off like everyone else this year?
Beating a guy who wears the same colored singlet as you is meaningless if you can't consistently beat everyone else.

Other than entertainment value, it provides essentially nothing but a good sweat.

And if there is to be some sort of midseason "wrestle-off", it means the starter wasn't getting the job done. Lets hope we don't have any of those.

Agreed. However, it's known that we're instituting wrestle-offs this year, so I'm just wondering why folks don't think this will be settled like all the other wiehgts in November.

For wrestle offs this year, I'm assuming we see everyone but Lee, Stoll, and Downey correct? I'd love to see Murin vs Glynn/Laux, Wilson vs Gunther/Young, and Warner/Cook vs Wilcke/Holloway (possibly Costello vs Holloway as well).

I don't know that pseudo wrestle-offs have ever went away, it might just be where they will be held and who gets to watch them. The premise or purpose doesn't really change. It's an exhibition match more than anything.

There is a fairly long list of "wrestle-off" "losers" who start all year long and stand on the podium in March. And rightfully so, they beat the people on the opposite team more than their every day practice partner does.

Solid performances by those two eager to see what they can do.
Gunther started 2016 off 10-0 yeah? Midlands placers him an Young. Can't wait for Midlands to see our weights kinda iron out. Any High Schoolers competing at Midlands this year?
Go Hawks
I believe high schoolers are no longer allowed, but thought I read something where that might be changing for "open" tourneys...
