Why the lack of it? Illinois needs to be a focus state for Iowa and we should have 5-10 guys in each class from there. Illinois has some good football and Iowa needs to get back to recruiting there a lot more.

It is not like they weren't going after Illinois guys they just haven't been getting them. Raequan Williams, David Edwards, Cameron Green, Titus Booker were all guys Iowa went after but didn't get. They got Hockaday and Vejvoda.
They aren't going to get 5-10 guys from Illinois every class because Missouri, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Northwestern, Illinois all recruit Illinois heavily and other Big Ten schools like Michigan State and Indiana also recruit in Illinois.

Lester Erb used to handle Illinois recruiting for Iowa...Now, Reid and Ferentz head it up... Ferentz was wearing training wheels when he started recruiting there. It will take some time for him to develop the relationships needed to gain high end qaulity players from there like Lester had done a few times...Fwiw, Erb was Dominic Christian's lead recruiter for the Wolfpack...
