Recruiting

Priority is recruiting:
Mocco
Raney
Raney

Then fill:
141: Bailey
149: Jordan Williams/McNeil (both are better than Swiderski)
157:
197: if AJ hurts us from getting future recruits, I don’t want him. Novac from Wyoming looked awesome and he’s a Minnie boy. Bring him closer to home. The small difference in points is not worth the drama.
Bailey would be huge get but does that hinder the Raney's if they don't want to RS

i get your point but it’s a buy low situation that isn’t risky. he has a redshirt too so it provides some roster flexibility.

regarding 197, what about just letting ludington have a chance to take the job year one? I like that idea versus a rental guy.

Yes waiting for that Bassett pull to start happening. I know it was said Bassett, his bro and Melvin Miller were a package. Would be great to get something from Miller to start off the 27 class as well. Really need the Raneys.
I agree with the Raneys. Wonder when they are making their announcement?

It appears Iowa has a different business model so far regarding the portal. This year’s haul is more grounded in opportunity whereas last year it contained more proven results. This is likely driven by timing and availability, but a stark contrast nonetheless imo. Okie State has altered the equation as well and DT is grabbing a large share of the top end market. I really hope Iowa can consistently do a better job of recruiting great talent so the portal is used to strengthen the team instead of building the team.

Yep, Taylor has the ball rolling downhill already after getting titles from two portal guys last year and sniping 2024 top 10 overall Ryder from PSU to go along with Merrill, Mccomas from 2024 and Hughes from 2023. Plus #4 and #9 overall from the 2025 class and already soon to be #2 overall from 2026. We absolutely have to get better up front recruiting to keep pace with them and gain any ground on PSU.

I missed Facundo too.

this has been an issue for years. I will believe it when I see it at this point.

Fan in Black and MVP fan with the lead on being Patricia's burner. Neither seem to ever post anything positive. 2 top 10 high school recruits in the post before there's. They skip that to be their usual negative selves.
Plus another top 20 P4P with Harvey Ludington.

Not true, it's about the best available that they can land. McNeil was high on Michigan, and Facundo, Welch, Swiderski, and others hopped in already knowing where they would land.

Well then it's not a different business model, it remains a model based on timing and availability. Seems you're talking in contradictions. :) Just playing with ya.

I would think Sidun is 125 or 133 and Hutcherson is 184/97. Sidun was on his way to be a 4 timer in PA but had an injury this year. The Bassett affect is starting.
Hutcherson would be perfect timing with Gabe leaving and Angelo with one year left. Sidun would over lap more with Deluca and Raneys if we get them. PSU problems I guess

He’s a year behind them and if they are to be believed they see themselves bigger so would makes sense he could slot in at 133 and them move up. He’s 120 now as a sophomore. Not hard to see someone up 13lbs in 27-28. No overlap necessary

Deluca is redshirting, which puts him only one year ahead of Sidun. If Bo doesn’t move up from 149, Raneys moving up is a problem. Next year will tell a lot about the Raneys future size. If they hold the weights they are now without cutting hard, they may be long term at those weights. Maybe they are cutting hard now??? I guess we should land them first before making plans for them. The fact they still haven’t committed to us after finally taking their official visit makes me think they can take or leave us, or are hoping for a bigger financial offer from one of the other teams.

I choose to be glass half full. Pointing out there’s options and kids growing seems to be a thing they do. It’s several years away. Seems it could work out if they wanted it to.

Pretty sure they have other visits. Probably just taking their time and figuring out what place is best for them. I hope that ends up being Iowa.
