Refugees Given $6,000 To Help With Housing

It sounds like a smart investment. These aren’t random people showing up at the border. They’re mostly on specific programs to come fill factory and other jobs that can’t find enough employees.

I know not too far from me there are a bunch of Haitians coming to work in places that really need workers. And they don’t get paid much and struggle to get by. My church works with a good number of them.

You believe these refugees are illegal?

Biden's absurd use of parole has all but eliminated the term "illegal".

Look at these numbers.

Former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump paroled on average 5,623 migrants into the United States each year.

In Fiscal Year (FY) 2022, President Biden paroled 795,561 migrants. In FY 2023 he has already paroled 802,764 migrants and that total does not include the 4th quarter. It is likely the Biden Administration will have paroled approximately 1.2 million migrants in FY 2023 when final figures are available.

I don't think I'll take anything Lindsey Graham opines on at face value, ever. You probably shouldn't either if you want to be taken seriously.

I'm assuming you're a citizen so, did you get $6,000.00 from the government to help with your housing?

A great way to disincentivize illegals from invading our country is to give them free money..
We got a $150,000 forgivable PPP loan.

Helped keep the business running during pandemic and since it ended business has boomed and additional hires and investments have been made.

This program is investing in human capital and will help address the worker shortage.

This is a smart use of taxpayer money as were the PPP programs (one of few things Trump initiated I agreed with)

So not illegal then?

Studies show over and over that having access to decent housing increases worker productivity, something even R's can appreciate!
The irony is this program is literally encouraging refugees to “pull themselves up by their bootstraps” rather than rely on shelters/handouts, etc.

New survey data from participants in the Cuba-Haiti-Nicaragua-Venezuela (CHNV) parole process show that this legal pathway for migrants from those countries has been a compassionate solution that has reduced border arrivals and relieved pressure on city governments. In fact, survey data indicate that those paroled through the CHNV process disperse throughout the country, initially depend on sponsors and not government, and are becoming economically self-sufficient in a short period of time.

CBS work for you?

Since President Biden took office in 2021, his administration has used immigration parole at a historic scale

that link says the bipartisan legislation would have put a cap on the parole system

oh well...trump didn't like it

Very thankful that Republicans have full control in Iowa.
Yes, we should be proud that we have a steadily declining public education system, some of the worst polluted waterways out of any state, crumbling infrastructure, mental health facilities that are among the worst in the country, 10th worst in retaining college graduates, 50% of Iowans are obese, we're short 350,000 child care slots, climbing drug abuse and suicide rates - list goes on.

But hey, at least they've been able to move forward on restricting Iowan's rights. Glad they spent most of last year on a bill that would ban books and school curriculum that discuss gender identity or sexual orientation even though the majority support those books. If only that pesky federal judge hadn't shot it down as unconstitutional we'd have fixed everything.

SO PROUD

Wouldn't that make throwing $6,000 to each refuge a bad idea?

Back in the day, Robert Ray welcomed refugees from Southeast Asia to Iowa. And they came and contributed to their communities.

How far the Republican Party has fallen. Because y’all scared and demonize brown people and their cultures.
Sadly, it's all they have left. When you add absolutely nothing to the conversation about policy or economics, fearmongering and scapegoating is all that remains. Rather than address actual issues, their handlers have brainwashed them to be laser-focused on demonizing some of the most unfortunate people in our society. When was the last time they discussed any sort of meaningful solution to an actual (not perceived) problem?

God forbid they wake up to the reality of the world they live in and realized they've been duped all along.

God how terrible that people escaping violent situations at home, coming here to save their lives, often with almost nothing other than the clothes on their back be given a small amount of money to start new lives and find employment. How horrifying.

MAGA's sure hate it when money goes to poor people. Subsidized farming, COVID grants, and other things going to rich people however, they deserve all that....
