I don't like DeSantis much but I think if you are going to make accusations against someone to the level of accusing them of sleeping with someone who was under-aged you had best have some rock solid evidence that it you know actually happened.

A blurry photo of a guy we can't really identify with some girls we can't really identify nor confirm the ages of them at the time of the photo doesn't seem to qualify.

Let them get used to being authority figures in a place where that is more natural with children who are usually 9 to 10 years younger than them where it's simply more natural to view them as "Children"

I mean consider that if you waited just 2 years to where the student is 20 and the teacher is 24 if they began a relationship, very few would even raise their eyebrows at that age gap.

No, I have never heard of that guy, never voted for him, and never supported him for anything. I don't even know when he was in Congress. But at least he is no longer there. If this is supposed to be some sort of "both sides" thing there are multiple recent examples of Democrats booting people for these types of things (well, not pedophilia but sex stuff) that are fairly recent though so I'm not sure how this is relevant. Kind of like pointing out that Democrats were the racist Party in 1930. It really isn't relevant to today.

The solution is easy so we have less students getting into inappropriate relationships with teachers (even if those relationships don't even turn sexual) and we don't risk losing people who could be good teachers if not for a stupid mistake. And it's simply when they are new and fresh out of college to put them in charge of people that they are naturally going to view as children until they are old enough that they start seeing 18 year olds as "kids".

Because look I can't tell you when the change happened but when I was 22 I didn't really view 18 year olds as kids. Sometime in my late 20's I started viewing them as kids. Now I wasn't going and having relationships with them or anything, I didn't really know many, I wasn't a teacher. And I'm also not saying I would have if I was a teacher because I consider myself more sexually restrained than most.

But I am saying that giving them just a few years to where there is enough age difference that they start to mentally view 18 year olds as "kids" is going to make things a lot easier and it's going to reduce the exposure to problems that potentially arise. Not just from sexual relationships but also in the form of being an authority figure and being viewed as an authority figure.

I really believe she would have given it as a gift and not drank it with her friends. I still refused to buy it. She was angry for awhile, but that comes with territory of being a teacher.

My understanding was that there was basically just Elementary education and secondary education in terms of teaching certificates.

I know they are capable of knowing appropriate behavior, my issue is that with them being so close in age there comes a lot of potential problems that are easily avoided if you sent a teacher to teach in a middle school for just say 5 years before sending them up to work with high schoolers. And I just don't understand why asking a young teacher to spend 5 years teaching middle school before moving them up to teach high school is such a difficult thing.
