KF is open to RPOs but there better not be many fumbles in practice or the RPOs likely won't last long.
There is a very high overlap of posters on this board that have a very strong opinion on the intricacies of football, and also seem to think RPO is zone read.
This Venn diagram has a third circle, the “This is Kirk’s offense and always has been!” crowd. Somehow, they can watch 25 years of Iowa Football and think each and every year is the same scheme, plays, etc.
It seems to be a foregone conclusion from everyone that it’s going to be Budmayr.Any word on WR coach?
I think it has to be posted for certain amount of time.If it is him, why are they waiting to announce it?
It has been rumored that JB is it. Then again, there were rumors for Chrsyt, Philbin, etc.It seems to be a foregone conclusion from everyone that it’s going to be Budmayr.
I am on record that I think this will be a missed opportunity, and I stand by that position.
That said, I am comforted somewhat by Lester’s strong track record in developing WRs as a HC. I know Lester will primarily be working with QBs, but I think as the direct supervisor for our WR coach, Lester will able to be able to provide much better input and direction than our last OC was able to.
In other words, I think Lester/Bud will result in better WR play than Brian/Copeland did.
It has been rumored that JB is it. Then again, there were rumors for Chrsyt, Philbin, etc.
I hope they go get a proven WR coach/recruiter.
It would be like saying "smite me almighty smiter"!I would love to have KF list off Budmayr's accomplishments at Iowa. The offense got worse. He brought in Deacon Hill.
People seem to have an issue with it, but he is a big reason why we have McNamara too.I would love to have KF list off Budmayr's accomplishments at Iowa. The offense got worse. He brought in Deacon Hill.
i find it hard to believe mcnamara came here because of the gift. chances are the admin assistant could’ve made him the nil offer on behalf of kf and he would’ve comePeople seem to have an issue with it, but he is a big reason why we have McNamara too.
I’m putting that one in the win box for him. I think we’ll be pretty happy with that one before it’s over.
Have to imagine the delay is KF wanting to give his new OC imput into the choice. It has been rumored that JB is it. Then again, there were rumors for Chrsyt, Philbin, etc.
I hope they go get a proven WR coach/recruiter.
That was allegedly the connection. Budmayr recruited Cade when he was at Wisconsin, and the McNamaras really liked Budmayr. It’s not like it’s secret info.i find it hard to believe mcnamara came here because of the gift. chances are the admin assistant could’ve made him the nil offer on behalf of kf and he would’ve come
Be prepared for the ‘we know he was hurt, Iowa offense … but he was a 51.1% passer at Iowa’ crowd to chime inPeople seem to have an issue with it, but he is a big reason why we have McNamara too.

Yeah, as I said, people seem to have an issue with it. Those are the people.Be prepared for the ‘we know he was hurt, Iowa offense … but he was a 51.1% passer at Iowa’ crowd to chime in
Job openings are posted for a minimum of 14 calendar days and may be removed from posting and filled any time after the original posting period has ended.I think it has to be posted for certain amount of time.
KF should be 99% hands off on who the OC picks to run the OC's offense.Have to imagine the delay is KF wanting to give his new OC imput into the choice.
Unfortunately, his best years are behind him. He will be serviceable this Fall (if his knee recovers), but he is 1 cut away from his knees blowing out again. No fault of his, just part of the sport.People seem to have an issue with it, but he is a big reason why we have McNamara too.

He will likely be fully healed. He might reinjure, but he should be physically in good shape. Maybe there will be a mental fear of reinjury?Unfortunately, his best years are behind him. His body of work peaked in his Sophomore year at UM, then has taken a sharp nosedive (yes, injuries played a part in that).
JB's credit for CM was absolutely obliterated by his wooing of DH to Iowa. They didn't cancel each other out, it was an epic failure.

Punter U? 🥲one thing that alarms me is that lester hasn't even met any of his WRs or QBs but is already gushing about the new punter. hope he doesn't think punting yardage counts for offense.
At least invited to the prom!
You guys are focusing on the wrong problem with the RPO. The RPO requires receivers that can run that slant pattern and consistently catch the ball. Are you confident that any of the receivers on the roster right now can do this?
Obviously we're not going to look like the SF offense, but that style is what the goal is, with how they use their RBs/TEs especially. Same goes for being exceptional immediately - no one's saying that.If people are suddenly expecting our offense to resemble the 49ers, whoa. Pump the brakes. KF is still here. It's still his offense. We amp ourselves up yearly to be improved upon and different than the previous year. There is a reason for that obviously, we know we need it.
Lester and the Offense may be better, really, how can they not be one would envision. Still, it's foolish of us to think they'll be exceptional so immediately after the last three disastrous offensive campaigns. We're not going to be 49ers on offense, that's laughable. Hopefully, we can be top 80 or better. That will be immense improvement and much more realistic.
You say obviously. That's not exactly what I see on this board from posters at times during the season however. I don't think it's "obvious" to some. They take these statements, run with it, then become dismayed rather immediately, and come to this board riling everyone up with irrational responses. This is pre-season coach hype for the fans. Which is fine, it's what everyone does. Many can't read between the lines and take it as verbatim which adds to the vitriol later.Obviously we're not going to look like the SF offense, but that style is what the goal is, with how they use their RBs/TEs especially. Same goes for being exceptional immediately - no one's saying that.
The idea tho is that's the goal, and I think it's reasonable to think they'll at least be competent.
If that's the style of play you wish to mimic tho, why not mention them? They're the gold standard for that style of offense, and it makes alot of sense for any team that doesn't have that elite QB that you can build around instead. As you said, competency is the goal for this upcoming season offensively. I hope we can achieve that. To even be mentioned in the same breath offensively, however, as the 49ers is pretty damn lofty, regardless of the actual intent behind their words.
