Scottie Scheffler thrown in cuffs on his way to PGA Round 2

This seems to be (don't have all info) the prime example of overbearing LEO. I'm guessing @Hawkman98 would agree. He doesn't need bad LEO make his job harder for good LEO
Ya seems to be a bit much. For one, cops who stick their arms in vehicles are going against any training they received.

However, for those who haven’t directed traffic before, you have no idea the amount of stupid you have to deal with. I’m sure Scottie wasn’t the first person to be dumb and think you could just disregard traffic laws and orders of an officer. If an officer tells you to stop and you disregard their directions you open up yourself up to this happening. Add in the emotions of dealing with a dead person, stress is high and the officer probably overreacted. I just usually yell at people instead of writing tickets or arresting someone. To be clear, I haven’t read all the articles to understand all the facts but it seems like the officer had probable cause to make the arrest, but could have definetly handled it differently.

All the charges will be dropped, or he’ll plead to something minor and do a PSA. Let’s not weep for him. The PGA and the organizers messed up, but in the end he made this happen. A bunch of golfers were behind the accident. It was not going to be a problem to push back the tee times.
The officers have a job to do, and from what I’ve read it was the scene of a fatality accident which is a crime scene. Mess that up and you’ve ruined a criminal or civil case.
FYI, an Iowa DOT worker was killed this week because someone in a hurry, or someone who was distracted, slammed into the DOT worker behind some safety comes. Another worker in the truck was injured. No doubt plenty of visual IDs and yellow lights flashing. It just isn’t that hard to obey traffic safety.
I know the guy. It’s been a rough couple weeks around the Neola/Minden area.

Kind of makes we wonder how this stuff doesn't happen 6 saturdays per year in Ames and Iowa City, and 2 weeks per year at the State Fair. Iowa State Patrol seems to have their shit together for those events.

Looks like he did comply, and he didn't get beaten or shot.

It also looks like the police have made a terrible judgement call...
Yep, appears to all be a mis-understanding and over-reaction by the police officer. Nothing to see hear. However, Scottie S. (if he wanted to) could probably pursue some legal action against the over zealous cop.

Scheffler driving 10-15 yards with a cop hanging onto his car is the main thing here. But why TF did the cop "attach himself to the car" in the first place? Other players did the same thing before him.
His superiors should give that cop a talking to, give him a paid day off to decompress, then let him go back to work…business as usual.

He drove on the median to get around stopped traffic caused by a fatal accident. He kept driving when they tried to stop him.

Everyone’s been late to work because of traffic. He’s not above the law.

Small difference when you are the reason for all the traffic. If it was another sport he wouldn’t have driven around the cops…the cops would have been giving him an escort. Hell even the Iowa Women’s Basketball team would get police escorts to “work.”

The PGA Tour can delay the start of their event so the police can properly handle a fatality, which is what they did.

My commute is 2.5 blocks for the past 10 years.. less than 30 seconds by car. One of the benefits of living in bumfuk Iowa.

lol…leave it to some bozo to make it a black/white thing. 😳

Why try to make everything a black//white issue?

Ummm. Cuz the LMPD has a history of making things a black/white thing?

Accept the humor for what it is, brah.
