Seibrecht

PSU fan here. Seems like you guys found your answer at 157. How this kid isn't ranked makes me scratch my head. At this point it doesn't look like you're gonna have any holes in your lineup this year barring any injuries. Iowa should be right there for our Dual and at the end of the season. Gonna be another FUN year.

He ranked in certain rankings!! Fun to watch yes. .

he's doing what he should against lower competition. i'm cautiously optimistic. but we should also remember he was down 9-1 to artalona when he rolled him through and pinned him. we'll know more during the big ten dual season. but credit him for going out there to put on a show.

He's up to #21 on Flo on the strength of his pin of Artalona (Penn). That's his only win over anyone in the top 30.

B1G will be the true test--3 ranked in the top 10, 6 in the top 20, 11 in the top ~35. I don't foresee him beating Lewan, Robb, or B Lee, but he has at least proven that he's dangerous.

Definitely fun to watch. He's good in those upper body ties and is patient, then explodes with 100% when he commits. Like js I am cautiously optimistic. He looked a little sloppy riding and on his returns, but he did a real good job of just flowing through the positions, even if it wasn't always pretty. That's the type of grit you need to win close matches against tough competition. Will be fun to watch against the tough B1G schedule, and I feel confident he will take a few of them for a ride.

Could Seibrecht have potentially gotten DQed or penalized in some fashion for leaving his feat and going in the air on his throw? Honest question, i didn't think you could do that in Folk style, like you can in Freestyle??

Standard lat drop you should be leaving your feet. The issue is how you bring your opponent to the mat once you do. Cobe pretty much landed on his own head before any part of his opponent came down to the mat, so he actually took the brunt of the landing…

Oh christ...don't give the fans of our Sunday dual opponent another reason to say ISU got screwed by the refs.

They thought they got hosed at 141.

Which is laughable, btw.

Reminds me more of Ness than anybody on our team. Big move capability for sure but he can’t ride like Ness yet. But he sure does let it fly!

I love me some Cobe, that’s well documented at this point. He hit a big time lat drop and got the major. We’ve seen the throws, but his biggest skill is his feel on the mat.

It’s amazing how much of wrestling comes down to being comfortable and just “feeling it”. Cobe has this ability in spades. We see it when he scrambles and we see it when he hits the big moves. I found it funny that in his post match interview after the dramatic pin against Penn he said he knew his opponent was good in that position, and that he shouldn’t be there. Sometimes what you know and what you feel in a wrestling mat collide, and that time it almost cost him. But I bet if you asked him what he was feeling in that hold he would have told he thought he was in a good place and felt comfortable.

Cobe’s incredibly fun to watch because he trust his feel. Sometimes to much. I wish more of our wrestlers had this blind faith, but unfortunately feel isn’t a trait that’s easily taught.

Are you guys calling that last throw a lat drop? I don’t think so.

It looked more like a lift and trip from body lock. Hands aren’t locked on lat drop. Just over unders.
You might be right. I need to re watch it. Unfortunately I was trying g to provide pbp for this site. Takes a lot of attention away from details

Down 9-1. Roll through reversal to backs was 6 point move. It was 7-9 when the pinfall was called.

Yeah, I saw it the way you did . . . but didn’t want to be the one to say it.

My only quibble, though, is that the “trip”
was more a kick, as it was his opponent that had the inside lace looking for a trip. Cobe kicked it out on the body-lock lift.

The exchange was very Marinelli-Jospeh-like. Almost like Siebrecht had rolled with one of those guys previously.

I said he reminded me of him “a little” …again slick style

I’ve seen the kid wrestle enough to know he’s fun to watch…..

I forget how carefully I need to choose my words discussing wrestling with anonymous strangers with funny nicknames

I’ll do better
Glad we could come to that understanding. Light hearted over here though. Borschel is def one of my fav hawks.

Love watching Siebrecht wrestle but will feel a lot better about where he stands in the rankings once he has a go at some of the top B10 guys (Robb, Coleman, etc.). Based on how PK was wrestling prior to the outing with Carr, I thought he would have been more competitive...but still work to do. I don't want to pressure Siebrecht, but so far I like what I see. :)

I agree PK has work to do but I'm not as disappointed with the result against Carr as some others appear to be. He kept it to regular decision against a former National Champ. It was what was needed to win the Dual.

Some people thought PK was a title contender this year, and at current state, that is very clearly not the case. People that are the most disappointed are the ones that had the highest expectations.
