So why didn't we shake hands?

The final exchange was much like in football when the offense is in the "victory" formation taking a knee cuz the game was over and just running out the clock and then the defensive line blocks and/or shoves the center into the the QB on a knee.....legal and/or as some say the defense was playing hard to the end; BS it is a dirty play and you just don't do that.
And yes the ref was pissed at the ND player.

What Hooker was doing was what many players try to do on situations like that. Sure they could have backed off but for them it is a big game and not wanting to give up. We just need to be bigger than that, I am sure it was the action of a few frustrated kids on their part at the end,big deal. Fran was wrong on this.
It looked bad and was immature. Fran is the leader of the team. His team (young team) looked lost and didn't know what to do. Fran should have been the one talking to Brian Jones.
I get it, he's fired up.....but he needs to be the leader and needs to keep his composure.
Jones needs not to be signaling "count it" in that situation. Completely inappropriate.
Fran did the right thing by just walking off - no need to escalate things after a salty end to a meaningless game.

No rules says you have to shake hands, and when the other coaches aren't coaching with class I don't blame Fran. No, you don't always have to shake hands I think this was somewhat justified.
I'm not mad Fran did that at all. It was Busch league at the end and their coach allowed it. I'm happy he stuck it to them. Bet ND won't be scheduled again!
I think the bait and flop made him mad but the cheap hard foul on Jok with 10 seconds left was and up double digits really got Fran going. The bush league steal at the end really pushed him over the edge. I think Fran just thought ND was being really cheap late in the game and had enough. I think it was a bit over of the top for Fran to run off without shaking hands like that but I also do not know all that he was mad about either.

Consider for one second that maybe Fran didn't shake hands because of what he might've said to Jones and especially Hooker. He was pissed and did the right thing by going straight for the tunnel.

That's weak. He is paid big bucks to be a coach in a major conference. He knows emotions will run hot at times. That's a terrible excuse. If he's that short-fused, he never should have gotten this far.
Agree there's no reason to shake hands to signify sportsmanship when the opponent is clearly not demonstrating that in the final moments no less. What would have happened if a brawl broke out through the line? Then we end up paying a price for that. Good call by the coach. Never schedule that low class team again.

Sounds about right. At this pace, this thread is going to be longer than the game thread. Much like a lot will be discussed about not shaking hands, instead of the game. Will be a good opportunity for young players to shut out the outside noise. Focus on preparing for next game.
