Iowa, since Tom Davis's amazing season in 1987 has only had 3 seasons that didn't reach double digit losses. 1993, 1996, & 2006, but just barely with 9.
I'll be real kind to Fran and not even include his first 2 seasons at Iowa and when you average out the loss total for each year in the 7 seasons to this year, he still averages 13+ losses a year.
So yea, why not, he's continued the tradition of Iowa achieving what they do every year.
Iowa fans are accustom to having teams finish in the middle of the Big Ten and excepting mediocrity, so why should Fran go out of his way to do better then his predecessors when his record is just as good.
He doesn't have to go out and recruit great players and there's absolutely no pressure to win the Big Ten as Iowa hasn't archived that level of success since 1979. Most Iowa fans have never even come close to experiencing what it's like to see Iowa win the Big Ten.
Barta and Fran deserve each other, so let the money flow.

Iowa lost one game all season vs a team with a losing record. That was (14-17) Rutgers, who I doubt anyone would classify as a pansie or a patsy. Other than that, you were still 100 percent incorrect.
You said Iowa struggled against patsies. Yet they lost one game against a team with a below .500 record. Therefore, only an idiot would claim that Iowa struggled against patsies.

Yeah if this year’s team had an identity aside from its resilience, it’s that they took care of business against the mediocre teams and lost to the top tier teams. Very consistently
