Some Minnesota thoughts.....

The basketball talent in the state of Minnesota in the next two classes is stunning.....not just good players, but a number of Mc Ds all American level talent. IF the Gophers were able to keep a good share of these guys home they would be in for some really strong years. The current level of success that they have had (finishing just behind Iowa in the regular season) could help them land this talent, The further they go in the B10 tournament and NCAA success could help Pitino Jr. keep his job and allow him to land some of these guys.

Jalen Suggs could be a one and done level talent....some others might be close.

It could give the B10 a little different look over the next few years or more....maybe.

Just some thoughts.

Offered Suggs in football and basketball.

Suggs would be a game changer for Iowa basketball. Not going to happen, but nice to dream. Foster is more realistic and I think his shot blocking skills could have a bigger impact on us than anything else. We need some defensive presence.

That's a big if that Minny keeps them. The blue chip schools have been pulling some of the talent out if MN - ex Jones to Duke.

They’ve been recruiting a number of them...the Garcia kid visited Iowa recently and we’ve been on him for a long time. Suggs has visited Iowa a number of times....there’s another kid that’s a top 70ish type player that’s visited here and ISU...6’9” power forward who’s name I cannot remember at the moment.

If Foster is going to commit to Iowa, how much more beneficial would you think it would be if he committed NOW vs later this summer???

I would think it would be huge bonus in recruiting if he committed now, or very soon. Commit now, and we get no less than one more bish fish IMHO. Which would be all we need to be very successful. For years...

We have a ton of playing time to sell. There will be a good core group of players already on the roster.

One question on Foster. If he were to commit now, but then flip to, say a cheating UNC and Roy Williams, in 4 months how PO'd would you be..?
Then How would you feel if his early commitment brought another big recruit who stays commit??

I would not happy obviously, but very forgiving!

Wherever he goes, I hope it is not to a blue blood-type to be lost in the shuffle. I'd rather he was the star somewhere.

I do think that getting him on board now would be a big deal in terms of landing other top level recruits.

I would think you could sell a couple guards (both PG & 2G) that having one of the most athletic big men in the country there would make them more successful as well.... and Foster seems to be a laid back and likable kid.
