South Dakota St QB Mark Gronowski visiting Iowa today, Jan 3. He won TWO Nattys, went 49-6 & threw for 10,330 yds & 93 TDs

the damage Brian did to the Iowa program continues to linger & it just sucks....

last year EVERYONE was making fun of the Iowa offense and the drive to 350 (14 games x 25 ppg) and the fact that Brian wasn't going to come close
I'm not even sure it was all Brian. Kirk had a lot to do with that offense and I believe it ruined Brian's career. Brian was too inexperienced for that job and with Kirk 'guiding' him, it was a disaster.

Kwik Star is vastly overrated.

Though I did make full use of their "five lbs potates for $1" deal.
Overrated compared to what LOL!?
I’d put KTrip up against anyone. They have great coffee, great hot food, stores are clean. Not sure who you think is better but they’re top notch imo

who's out there now that's good? that troy dude would've been fantastic
kid from Chattanooga would have been a monster, he visited but hasn't declared yet, I think he's on is way for a USC visit. The kid from troy would have been huge, but I don't think he is even coming in for a visit (could be wrong). There are a ton of WRs in the portal, it's just finding the right one (or 5)

At the risk of sounding like an elitist, I don't dine at gas stations, but thank you anyway.

WR might be even tougher to reel in than QB until they feel comfortable that the passing game will improve. I don't see how that happens until there is some clarity around the QB situation.

My final thoughts before we get the announcement; I think the fact he didn't commit last Friday is pretty telling. It's more likely he goes to the NFL the longer this goes on. In reality, he has a lot to lose by coming to Iowa, as opposed to us who have everything to gain. He had a great career at SDSU, and coming to one of the worst passing offenses in the nation, likely to hand off the ball around 70% of the time, won't help his draft stock at all. The less he passes, the worse off he is.

I'd love for him to be a Hawkeye, but I'm at the point where I don't think it'll happen.

Dochterman stated today that if he was drafted it would be a 6-7th round pick. the first pick of the 6th round is a 4 million dollar deal. That is best case scenario, this has more to do with Iowa ponying up more money.

Not sure how you fail to mention the one million plus dollars he has to gain by going to Iowa for one year.

That's crazy for a 6-7th rounder, maybe he feels if he shows more on tape at a B10, P4 school he can bump up a few rounds.

How many years is the 4 million dollar deal...

But also that deal isn't guaranteed in any form. If you don't make the roster it's basically 0. So if you go to a P5 school and get close to a milly you for sure have at least something.
The signing bonus is guaranteed and would be about $250K. If Iowa is truly offering what some say they are offering, then it might make financial sense for him to stay in college for another year.

Definitely a gamble...read only 30-35% 6th rounders make a roster overall. Couldn't find the % specific to 6th round qb's drafted.

Sources are saying it’s down to really his consideration of Iowa vs the NFL, he likely sees himself as a 6-7th round pick….and best case scenario the sources said he’s looking at 4 million over four years. Could make more for 1 year at Iowa.

Some sources have even wondered if this may be a ploy to increase his NIL package at Iowa.

Honestly you get upwards of 2 million for this kid you gotta start thinking about walking away,.. he’s only got one year and Iowa isn’t winning anything significant next year so why throw that kinda cash at one player…

Yeah but he would pretty much guarantee a warm weather bowl, and that’s what most Hawk fans lust for. We’ve been trained

The money used on a QB is likely not there for other players. This should be considered a special assessment.

Fair point. On the other hand, Iowa pretty desperately needs to show the world it can resuscitate its passing offense. Even if you only win 7-9 games, but you demonstrate you can pass the ball effectively, it can reap dividends on future QB and WR recruiting.
