Welcome to how it feels to be an Iowa guy. Everyone will cheer your losses. Iowa against the world...buckle up, get your knee worked on Spencer be ready to come out and shove it down their throats when you are good and ready. Go out and win your fourth Gavin and come in ready to wrestle

You would never, ever see a HS wrestling crowd do that in Iowa... Turn our backs on one of our states all time greats like those clowns did. Absolutely humiliating.

Those jackals most certainly solidified Teasdales commitment though, so hats off to them I suppose?

I was there and you are incorrect. The crowd was cheering for the effort of Desanto. He is a D3 kid and Exeter is only miles from Hershey. Pretty much a home match for him. When Lee was introduced on the podium he was cheered very well.

So anytime someone says anything that's truthful but hard to accept they're a troll....ok, got it

What's so hard to accept about what you said? That Iowa fans can be arrogant? That's your big truth? Unoriginal maybe, but you are far from the first to say it.

You know what, I am going to talk to Gobblin because Gobblin has things to say. You think we have a shot at Patrick? Would be nice to get some of these guys in for cheap and let them make their mark. Seems like we are getting a lot of good talent in with are great ones. Going to make for a tough room.

Yes shame on that crowd for not sitting quietly as they watched one of the most exciting high school matches of all time unfold.

And they were definitely cheering because Spencer Lee is going to Iowa. Certainly couldn't have been because people love an underdog story.

This is the dumbest shit ever. If Spencer Lee wins that match, he gets a standing ovation from that crowd as he leaves the mat. Here's video of him being cheered as he gets on the podium:

Disagree.

Spencer Lee is a warrior and amazing talent. He's a World Champ and has many more titles ahead of him.

However, this title match was about DeSanto, and his determination to take on the ultimate challenge and win.

The Hershey crowd was cheering one of the biggest upsets in PIAA history

They were cheering the underdog. Cheering the hometown kid. And his galliant effort. And shocking accomplishment.

It was not a slight on Spencer Lee.

So why am I a troll?

You people label anybody that doesn't agree with your conspiracy theories, or god forbid might not think an Iowa guy or recruit isn't the best ever a troll.

I mean ''They hate us because they aint us" is the dumbest thing I have read. If someone wants to cheer for us, why wouldn't they?

Sarcasm tool, try it sometime.

He beat a 1 legged wrestler. All that underdog determination stuff is a load. Healthy Lee sure, 1 legged Lee, no way. The kid is lucky he got a fortunate call with the clock and won as it is.

Most fans root for the underdog if it's not their team or player on their team.
Always been that way. Always will.

Absolutely. But Don't take anything away from a kid who dropped a weight so he could have another shot at Spencer. Desanto is well aware. He didn't even celebrate.

Here is a quote from DeSanto:

"I'm excited but at the same time I wrestled a hurt Spencer Lee," DeSanto said. "You could see his knee, he was favoring it the whole time. I just kind of feel bad for him. But at the same time, I'm excited for myself. I worked every day after that tech fall to beat him and I got my dream, I guess."

Young man has a good head on his shoulders. I give him a lot of credit for his effort and how he is dealing with the aftermath. It's not his fault Lee wasn't 100%.

I have a unique perspective on this situation. My mom and dad are both University of Iowa grads, but we moved to Pennsylvania when I was in middle school, and I went to both high school and college there. I have quite a few friends that are Penn State fans, and received several gleeful texts that Spencer Lee lost. They later apologized when emotions went down, and they realized just how injured he is. The emotion of the moment and fandom can do stupid things to people, and you would be naive to think that some people in the crowd weren't happy to see him lose simply because of his college choice.

The dumbest stuff ever is the link you posted showing one guy telling Spencer he let him down and the other link a video of the arena going crazy for his loss.

Not a lot of kids have perspective like this. Kudos to him for recognizing the situation while still savoring in the win. He earned that right.

Based on the influx of gloaters on this board, alone, right after the match, I find it completely unrealistic for anyone to claim that the crowd's reaction was purely just happiness for the underdog.

I have no doubt that there were a good number of resentful PSU fans there who were reveling in Spencer's loss and letting him hear about it. Shoot -- he got a fair amount of flack in person from those types after committing to Iowa. Get the mob mentality going at a wrestling tournament, and of course you'll get the resentful PSU crowd celebrating
his loss.

As for a lack of boos when he was on the podium, even the staunchest haters are unlikely to do that. You'd have to be a special breed of cretin to stoop that low. Plus, they had their chance to cheer the guy who beat him, which was their main focus, and you can bet the roof about came off when DeSanto was announced as the champ.

Anyway, on to much bigger and better things. I'm sure Spencer has already turned the page. Time for his supporters to do the same, and focus on his success and the success of his teammates in black and gold.

digger it could have been the ultimate challange, but it was not.it was getting a title against a guy who could barely walk(not desantos fault) and he still barely won. i have read to many penn posters smuggly saying spencer was gassed to dismiss the iowa hate factor. and feetomouth you are not one of us
Could barely walk? Spare the drama. Watch the video of Spencer walking behind the podium, then stepping up onto the podium, bad leg first.

I tried giving you an out for your stupidity. You can't be helped so go away.
So, there's something in that video that doesn't refute "could barely walk?" Spencer was injured, yes. Spencer was obviously not moving well during the match. If either of those things were said, then I'm fully on board. But, "could barely walk," no, not so much.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why some folks on here welcome the PSU perspective or even go and over to that cesspool BWI and fraternize. I've never begrudged a program for being good but the online PSU fans are the most obnoxious I've seen in both football and wrestling.
