Stanley Cup Playoffs

Avs can’t score to save their flicking lives here. Former teammate is on a mission to keep them out of the net.

Not very often that every single team that I want to win wins. Now it's two days in a row! Lol

You guys see the Jets player get his face gashed open last night? 75 stitches later, back on the ice
Frigging hockey players are not normal humans.

That was a crazy sequence. I thought they scored. I can't believe that puck didn't make it in but it didn't. I don't know how.

That has to be scary having a giant razor blade come up under your visor like that.

Alas, I fear that my fears regarding Toronto are true: Sammy is simply not the goalie that is going to win you a Cup, no matter how good your offense is. (Still fun to watch Pornstache with the puck though.) I think the Leafs' only hope is that the Tampa d-men are out for several games.

NY continues to be my team to watch though. They've got the right balance among their skaters, and Shesterkin is kinda all-world.

Kraken looked more energized and frankly better than the Avs last night. Was demoralizing in the venue. If the Avs don’t win game 2 they’ll be home early this season.

I said earlier in the thread that if the avs play sloppy, they won’t be repeating. That was about as bad and out of synch as I have seen the avs since Decembe/January when they had all the injuries. They were completely outplayed, out coached… everything last night. Fortunately, it’s a 7 game series, but if they don’t get better quick, they are toast. I was impressed with Seattle last night.

Last nights games were all pretty much beat downs. Quite the contrary to the first night. 6 out of 8 away teams won in the first round. Interesting.

Considering they could wear real face protection instead of a visor that would have made that a non issue I'd definitely agree with the last part....I saw he swapped out that visor when he came back. I know being a tough guy is a badge of honor in hockey and that is part of the appeal, at least they are wearing helmets now I guess

5'9"/190 Lomberg with the head slap, reversal and fall over 6'2"/205 Frederick last night, though I think Angel Rivera was out of position and didn't call it. If Ferrari doesn't work out, I'd give him a call about filling in at 197 next year if I were you guys.

Pretty entertaining hockey tonight. All series at 2-1 right now. Rangers looking tough. Tampa bay kind of got a raw deal and out played Toronto, but lost. Much to the chagrin of some of our bolts fans here I assume. My avs are looking the part the last game and a half. Bout to get interesting boys.

Toronto has surprised me a bit with their heavy game. Cool to see captain on captain violence last night.

I'm not a bolts fan, but they got screwed. That was some fun hockey to watch. They kicked the shit out of the leafs after that hit on Point. That was some heavy blows landed. Didn't phase Toronto though.

God this is making me remember the years when my caps were in it, and the terrible nervousness going into the fourth game of a 2-1 series.

If the leafs go deep, a buddy (whose dad once owned a piece of them) is vowing to move Heaven and earth to get his corporate box for a boys trip. Hell, I’d go up and stand outside and drink labatts blue

Jekyll and Hyde tonight for Edmonton. They looked like a completely different team in the 2nd period with three goals, two off of power plays. 3-3 end of 2nd and we got a game.

I know that hockey players are tough and I am not... but there is no amount of money you could pay me to not have a full visor or caged face mask. I don't want my teeth to get knocked out nor do I want to miss ice time to get stitched up and play. It seems insane to me that these guys don't play with masks.

A full cage or bubble really limits your vision. That's the reason players don't wear them.

If you have ESPN+, watch some of the old replays of games from the 1960s. Back then the goalies didn’t even wear masks or helmets. Those guys were insane.

Yeah, the reality is that the elite level of pretty much any sport, anything that is even perceived at limiting performance will not be adopted.

No kidding. I think about that often. Utterly insane...

This has been a great playoff season thus far.

Of the series that have gone 4 games, 2 are tied at 2-2
Of the remaining 4 series, home team victories tonight would make it 3 more.

As usual, you get the first round clown-hits and injuries, which is the part I hate the most. But what's been surprising is the number of near line-brawls late in games this year. And Linus Ullmark...you go!

Not sure if there are any Wild fans in this group, but man were they on the receiving end of two horrible penalty calls yesterday, both against Foligno and both of which resulted in PP goals for the Stars. I concede that the Wild had plenty of opportunities to score on odd-man rushes and Foligno whiffing on a tap-in to a wide open net that my squirt son would've scored, and that their special teams continue to struggle in the post-season. Still, its hard not to feel a bit aggrieved this morning.

Brutal calls. Totally robbed of that game.

i've seen worse not called, and have seen less get called.

as you mentioned, occurred at pivotal points in the game to deflate any momentum Minnesota had going. After their first goal, you could tell Minnesota was skating better and creating more chances in the 5v5. Dallas was reeling until the first Foligno bad call.

Avs looked like dog shit tonight. Kracken outplayed and deserved this one. Avs have no chance of repeating playing like they are right now.

in other games. Tampa is in trouble. What has happened to their rock star goalie? Las Vegas looked pretty good tonight.

edit: in the post game wrap up. Paul Bissonette tried to make a funny joke and afterwords said he probably shouldn’t have done all that coke. Probably not the smartest comment to make.

Lightning are probably done, not very likely that they can come back from 3-1. Not impossible, but improbable. It's a shame, they could very easily be up 3-1 instead of down 3-1.

They don't have the brick wall in Vas like they've had the last few years. Idk if he's done or if he's just having a down year that he can bounce back from.

that whole jared mccann thingy might help the avs, at least for the rest of this series..

I see makar will actually have a hearing. might be interesting to see if this is the rare case where the hearing actually matters for the player

All that said, as I've said before, stupid shit like this wouldn't happen if they didn't literally change the standard of officiating once the playoffs start.
