Suck it Bardo

Seems to me every analyst and play by play guy has been very complimentary of Iowa this year. I see no reason for anyone to complain about Bardo. He sounds like he is enjoying calling Iowa games!

I'm colored by my biases and fandom, but if I try to strip that out, I think this is a fairly objectively entertaining team to watch. Garza is doing more than most any big in the country, the Hawks will get out and run. They have some dynamic shooters. Toussaint is an adventure most of the time and most of their games have featured some entertaining runs back and forth.

Plus, they're gritty. Announcing crews love gritty.

Skipped the thread, but I like Bardo. I have hated Illannoy for decades, but he understands basketball and is usually very complementary to the Hawks. He was tough as nails when he played.

I really like Bardo, and especially like it when he's paired with Revsin. In fact, I'd rather have Bardo do football.....than Beth Mowens.

Hawks win again!! 6-3 & 1 game back!
Apparently the OP didn't watch the interview Bardo did with Garza after the game was over. The two of them gave each other a high five bro hug after the interview. Not sure where Bardo is being negative towards us. He has done the last 7 games and seems to enjoy watching this Iowa team play hard and generally overachieve.

We get away with something weak and he makes it sound like we got away with murder. Cmac gets tackled and his opinion is "play on". WTF? lol
Hawks get smacked in the face, physical bball.....
Hawks breathe on somone...."oooo, they got away with one there!"

This nails it perfectly. It gets a little old and I can see how many feel he’s one sided. Time after time he says “I like the no call there” and then says “they got away with one there” to the other team.

Just last night, a Wisconsin big was called for blocking Garza out of bounds on the baseline as Garza cut. It was similar to a DB riding a WR out of bounds on a route. Bardo says something to the effect that he didn’t like the call because what’s the WI defender supposed to do guarding one of the best bigs (Garza) in the country. I don’t know, not impede his cut/movement.

I don’t think Bardo is bad. He’s knowledgeable especially about his playing days. His little quips I could live without. He’s an Illini DB. But if the Hawks keep winning, he can do every damn game for all I care.

exactly, lately he's been about as consistent as those rutgers refs.
I was enjoying him earlier this year (other than his old many "jeffersons" comments :) ).
Listening to him talk for 5 minutes about how connor didn't commit a foul got annoying as F&*# though! Of course he didn't, he got frickin tackled! Everyone else that has mentioned it said it was obvious as can be.....

Its also a little funny how his instinct was to assume Iowa/CM committed the stoppage. It wasn’t until there were several reviews he saw they may be looking at Davison on this. Not the first time he’s changed his mind after seeing replays. Not saying that doesn’t happen to most commentators as well.

The worst part was the 1st thing he mentioned was the hook n hold then he went on and on about them looking at an illegal screen the whole time. even when the other announcer mentioned the tackle multiple times after LOL

Like him. His references to JW as "Weezy" may be a little dated but I still laugh.

Really like in past years him calling out "The Too Cool for School" type players. Iowa had a four-year starter who fit the bill a few years back, imo. Couldn't stand it. Wasn't half the player of Garza but strutted around like he was all that. Just play. Hard.

He’s an Illini DB.
Defensive Back? :D On the BIG Show tonight Bardo gave his awards for best player and best play at mid-season.
For the best player, the award goes to (drum roll), Ayo Dosunmu for scoring, rebounding, big plays, and because the Illini are tied for first based on his contributions.

For the play of the year (so far), (stomach churning just a little bit), the award goes to (drum roll), the one, the only, yes! Brad Davison for the out of bounds play deflection in the Maryland game and then hitting the winning shot. (puking).

Stephen, I love you man, but.....(still puking)

It was actually Illini Douche Bag, but I suppose that was a little redundant.

The rest of your post is one of the reasons why there is dislike for Bardo. He is entitled to his opinion as homerish as it may be. We don’t have to like it I suppose.

Steve Bardo and Jimmy Jackson love us. I think they're both afraid that Eddie Horton is going to show up and break someone's ****ing neck if they disrespect Iowa.
