That is not the intent of NIL
totally agree.
but the reality is, without SWARM Inc lining up deals for Cade, Erick, etc (where they get paid handsomely), we probably don't get them.

You keep saying this. Can you provide a link? Other than the fact that Barta didn't make a phone call, is there evidence of this, or are you maybe just throwing poop at the wall?NIL is still a new phenomenon so I think in time it will happen to some extent as time goes on. Doesn't help imo that Barta put up a barrier between the school and the collective. Will be curious how/if Goetz or whoever the eventual new AD addresses that.
Any idea how much ex-players at other schools contribute, or is this an Iowa problem?
I do see Fran being more active with SWARM. Is that not translating yet? I mean if he helps rake in some coin by granting exclusive access to donors, shouldn't he expect to get some of those proceeds dedicated to his sport? One problem of many when it comes to the NIL mess: the numbers aren't public, but it looks like it takes at least $100,000 per year to acquire/keep players like Cade McNamara, Erick All, etc.
I do wish that SWARM Inc would have been able to help Fran acquire someone in the portal. Fran simply is getting outbid. What did SWARM Inc have to bid/promise to get Cade McNamara, etc? We'll probably never know.
I don't tell people what to do with their money, but it looks like some arm twisting is needed to get former Iowa players (who are now very wealthy) to contribute to SWARM. There's a lot of former Iowa football players where they can tap into. But when it comes to former Iowa basketball players? Ooof. I would hope BJ Armstrong contributes. But Iowa basketball, unfortunately, doesn't have a lot of super rich former players to tap into.
Before taxes, this is what Keegan made/will make:
22-23: $8,008,440
23-24: $8,409,000
24-25: $8,809,560
25-26: $11,144,093

TOTAL: $36,371,093
Heinrich’s has said several times there was zero contact between him and Barta. If that’s not a barrier I don’t know what is.You keep saying this. Can you provide a link? Looks photo shopped
I had a chance to stop at the I80 truck stop both heading to Indianapolis and on the return from thereof. Just a ton of stuff in there and CLEAN. They keep that sucker clean which is big for me to stop somewhere more than once.Yeah, the Moon Family Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz Bill Moon.
Dale Howard Auto Center is located in Iowa Falls.
Exile Brewing is giving 20% of sales to SWARM Inc.
The SWARM CEO, IIRC, stated he personally wrote a check for $100,000 to SWARM Inc.
I am sure there are others (and other companies) involved on the SWARM Inc side (used to acquire top players).
It makes you wonder how much it took to acquire what we did in the transfer portal.

iIRC Brad mentioned early on that Barta wasn’t fully on board with NIL. Wouldn’t personally meet with him, sent others from the Athletic Dept. Brad was frustrated with Barta. You keep saying this. Can you provide a link? Other than the fact that Barta didn't make a phone call, is there evidence of this, or are you maybe just throwing poop at the wall?
I’m all for blowing up this “pay to play” thing….but NIL shouldn’t go away. If Clark can make millions doing a few commercials for Gatorade and StateFarm….good for her!if the NIL ever does blow up and go away, and I hope it does...the current system of pay to play...I hope the swarm can still do things like help the community and do charity stuff with players, outside of the university. and outside of pay to play.
You can't scramble up eggs and then expect to separate them and put them back in the shell.I’m all for blowing up this “pay to play” thing….but NIL shouldn’t go away. If Clark can make millions doing a few commercials for Gatorade and StateFarm….good for her!
It’s the collectives nationwide that only exist to pay players that are the problem here.
yeah I meant the current system of NIL where they tie it to recruiting. I think NIL should exist IE clark making money off of state farm commercials just like Mahomes does. however Mahomes does not have to worry about the U and the ncaa. wish clark did not have to also.I’m all for blowing up this “pay to play” thing….but NIL shouldn’t go away. So if someone doesn’t want to join the swarm they’re a terrible fan? Stupid take. I’m not joining Swarm and guarantee I’m just as big a fan as you. I support Iowa through merchandise and ticket purchases. I support the Swarm through beer purchases. You can't scramble up eggs and then expect to separate them and put them back in the shell.
NIL won't be going away, and IOWA fans can't expect a handful of corporations to carry the water for SWARM.
This conference is growing and teams with extra deep pockets are joining the B1G, every man, woman, and child who cheer for the Hawkeyes need to pony up and join SWARM or we will not, I repeat not be competitive.
Put up or shut up time has arrived.
What kind of fan are you?
Buying t shirts and game tickets does nothing in regard to securing top talent. When Iowa starts going 3 - 9 year in and out will you still be going to the games? I doubt you will what will happen is you will be complaining about the product on the fieldSo if someone doesn’t want to join the swarm they’re a terrible fan? Stupid take. With the massive amount of money these television rights are bringing in, maybe in the not to distant future the University can split their share with the athletes instead of relying on fans forking the bill. NIL is trouble for all but a few college teams.
I’ve been an Iowa fan since the late 60’s, haven’t swayed yet. Do I bitch, absolutely.Buying t shirts and game tickets does nothing in regard to securing top talent. Yes purchasing certain beer does put money in SWARMS war chest but you would have to be an alcoholic in order to put as much money going toward SWARM buying beer as a simple yearly donation would do.
I'm not saying that people who don't join SWARM are terrible fans, I will say they have no clue how negatively they impact the program by not joining.
How about this sell a couple of your game tickets and use the money to join SWARM?
Good for you btw 60's level football is right around the corner without support for SWARM but you'll at least be comfortable.I’ve been an Iowa fan since the late 60’s, haven’t swayed yet. Do I bitch, absolutely.
Sell my tickets and give that money to the Swarm? How about you double up your contribution and then I’m covered and can still go to games.
that’s exactly what I’m talking about though….it should have nothing to do with being “competitive”. If an athlete can make money off their own NIL then they should be able to….thats all this should be. NIL has somehow turned into fan bases just writing checks to players. You can't scramble up eggs and then expect to separate them and put them back in the shell.

we would do great by getting back to the 60'sGood for you btw 60's level football is right around the corner without support for SWARM but you'll at least be comfortable.
hopefully people realize this thing has gone down the wrong road. hopefully. those who think the swarm is the answer, hopefully they are proven to be wrong, it's about football. it's about paying people for the nil., it's not about pay to play. I am hoping some team like alabama or michigan gets nailed somehowthat’s exactly what I’m talking about though….it should have nothing to do with being “competitive”. I won’t be donating anymore than I already have to SWARM. Nothing against them, and if you all want to donate to a college kid….have a ball. I’m over this crowd sourcing of teams Wild West.
I agree NIL has gone down the wrong road but unless someone gets it back on track it's going to remain pay for play. Some high school players are already being paid millions plus to attend certain colleges. I've read where the Raiola kid has been offered 3 million to commit to Knebbers.hopefully people realize this thing has gone down the wrong road. hopefully. those who think the swarm is the answer, hopefully they are proven to be wrong, it's about football. it's about paying people for the nil., it's not about pay to play. could you imagine what would happen if we did have a 10m dollar QB and he threw a bunch of interceptions or got injured, or he took off in a yr or two to michigan. oh boy.Moon wrote $100k check to Swarm, which is great. He paid $10m 3 years ago to the AD for the "Moon Family Coach" naming thing. Wish he would have waited and spent the $10m on a "Moon Family Iowa QB."
What kind of fan am I? A poor one.You can't scramble up eggs and then expect to separate them and put them back in the shell.

Cut the cigs for 2 weeks and you could easily pony up $200 to SWARM and probably be healthier. What kind of fan am I? A poor one.
Never smoked a day in my life. Now alcohol? Maybe.Cut the cigs for 2 weeks and you could easily pony up $200 to SWARM and probably be healthier.
Huh?we would do great by getting back to the 60's
That's where we're headed if you dolts don't pony up and join SWARM.Huh?
We had two winning seasons in the 60’s and none after 1961.
