Tariffs against Canada Mexico and China.

How's that working out for you guys these days?...
Considering I own multiple homes, have an amazing family, had a remarkably successful career and can afford whatever I want regardless of tariff policy? I’d say pretty damn good.

The irony is Trump’s policies will undoubtedly favor me over the average American living paycheck to paycheck. When the tariff sh*t hits home I will still be able to afford groceries, vacations, etc.

Then I am going to come back and calmly explain, without rubbing it in, that y’all done f*cked yourselves. And I will lend a hand to help get you back on your feet, because that is part of what it means to be an American.

Aren't you special. I'll bet that Biden's inflation impacted the average American more as well. That's one of the many reasons that Harris lost the election.

Cool,.. I'm also looking forward to this improving things.

Nope, I’m just a regular guy who grew up on a farm in Iowa and ended up in the right place at the right time. I worked hard, but was also very lucky. My point in sharing was that life will be good for me under Trump. The billionaires are running the joint and their policy proposals are specifically designed to protect wealth and create a consumption tax.

The fact they duped those without wealth into thinking they were helping them? That might be the greatest con the orange conman ever pulled.

Threats of tariffs are a long time tactic used by many countries.
Didn't Trump negotiate USMCA? This is what he said last time about it.
I will say that we just ended a nightmare known as NAFTA. (Applause.) They took our — they took our jobs for a long time. They took it for a long time. And we now have a brand-new U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement. It’s a whole different ballgame, and it’s going to be great for this plant. It’s going to be incredible for Michigan and for every place else in our country.

The USMCA is the fairest, most balanced, and beneficial trade agreement we have ever signed into law. It’s the best agreement we’ve ever made, and we have others coming. And, by the way, the China deal, two weeks ago, was just signed. And that’s going to bring $250 billion into our country. (Applause.) One after another.

Overall, the country will be in better shape in 4 years.

They’ll hurt consumers correct. But long term it’s supposed to bring jobs back. Still unsure how that will work with the labor challenges. The biggest factor in off shoring is the availability of labor. A lot of what he’s proposing doesn’t make sense.

It's interesting to me that conservatives don't seem to think they have media with extremely focused/biased content or that they develop and enforce their world views based on this content. Nope, it's all the liberals being indoctrinated by the evil "mainstream" media. Then they tune in to Faux News (#1 in ratings), OAN, NewsMax and start mouthing all of the words that are said and nodding so they can repeat them the next day.

Headlines right now on Faux News.

Child Preying Criminals (wonder where cons get all of the "dems are pedos" nonsense from?)

Data exposes dangerous impact of Democrats' decision to put Americans last

World's biggest retailer rolls back 'woke' policies after backlash

The folks on both sides usually get made fun of on HORT.

So with a major tariff announcement on MX and Canada one would think this was major news right? Foxnews has nothing on their main page. The headline is about immigrants killing Americans. Fox business doesn’t even have it as the headline. The headline is about Wal Mart rolling back woke policies.

The GOP propaganda machine is hard at work. The Dems need to stop f*cking around on topics like trans, Bibi’s arrest warrant, etc. They need to stop taking the bait every time Musk says anything. They need to stop over analyzing every crazy appointment. This dilutes the message and most average people won’t care who runs the education department.

If you want to bury Trumpism you need to hammer home, every day all day, what happens to prices and the economy over the next few years. Trump needs to own the consequences here, but the Dems lose their shit over every crazy thing Don does and you will not beat him with a “throw shit at the wall to see what sticks” strategy.

Stop.diluting.the.message. It is all about the economy - focus.
It is truly sad this needs to be explained to anyone.
Trump printed money because the D governors shut down the economy. By the time Biden came stumbling in, the economy was open and additional spending wasn't necessary.

The additional spending led to inflation.
I have read a lot of laughably stupid posts on here, but this one ranks up with the best. At least you have your last sentence.
If I was you, I'd deny being a democrat too.
The poster whom you are referring to is a lot like me (except he’s apparently a baller and I am a lowly teacher). Both of us are traditional conservatives who despise Trump. If you want to create a false dichotomy of Trump supporter or pink-haired, self-loathing liberal, then you are just as myopic as said pink-haired, self-loathing liberal.

Get a clue.

It’s a joke that MAGA is always complaining about MSM. They own a lot of MSM and that’s all the watch/read/listen to.
They get around it by not believing Fox News is MSM.

I’m curious. Do you think we wouldn’t have experienced high inflation had Trump been reelected in ‘20?

Hey! Not all of us have pink hair…🤪

You honestly don't see why screaming for years about inflation that was primarily Trumps fault and then cheering for these tariffs is so frustrating to anyone with a brain? He is doing the exact same thing he did in his first term, you felt the consequences but couldn't bring yourself to blame who was mostly responsible, and now he is going to do it again and you still can't hold him accountable for it? What, you think Trump's previous tariffs aren't a big part of the reason prices went up during Biden's administration?

You can fault the Biden administration for not getting rid of those tariffs, but they were still Trump's tariffs.

I love how every policy discussion with Trump has zero substance and is all about generic superlatives like “total disaster,” “incredible,” “fairest,” “ever,” etc. etc.

Good thing Trump wants to reduce the American labor force by millions. Every Dick, Tom, and Harry in Perry, Iowa will have their pick of the litter of $18/hr manufacturing jobs. Hope they also enjoy their $12 bags of Cheetos and $75 flannel shirts from Walmart.

Maybe they will be able to take out a second home mortgage on their trailer to keep up with inflation. MAGA.

Trump will add back to the labor force by eliminating government jobs.

I’ll even argue that the inflation was coming in ‘21 regardless of who was president. The disruptions to the supply chains, longterm consequences of lockdowns both here and abroad, etc., and yes, the spending bills that BOTH Trump and Biden enacted.

I have zero confidence that Trump would have dealt with it very well.

As I pointed out in my post the labor pool simply isn’t here. Yes, the labor participation rate is low. But the jobs they want to bring back need to be filled by a younger labor force. Which we don’t have.. Seriously doubt any major manufacturer is going to invest in a new plant with a huge lack of workers.

You think the high inflation that was present in every country around the world in 2020 would have skipped the US because Trump?

I don’t pretend to be an economic savant, but that makes zero sense.
It’s next-level stupid.

Worldwide inflation was undoubtedly a result of COVID. Trump is just as guilty of reckless spending and the irresponsible printing of money as every other president we’ve had in the 21st century. Whoever claims inflation from 2021 on was entirely the fault of Biden’s lacks critical-thinking skills and most likely has very limited brain capacity.

Biden and crew f*cked up on the border for 3 years, no doubt there. They were however laser focused on the economy. As to inflation? Trump and Biden both printed gobs of money in covid stimulus (Trump printed more by the way). Biden owns it because Fox is better at propaganda, but they both caused it.

You will see if Trump keeps his tariff promises.
I'm literally tired of having to hear about the damn border. The Republicans CHOSE it to be their issue 2 weeks into Biden's term. People forget Safari Ted and his crew going down there for political purposes. People forget 900,000 border encounters in 2019 when Trump was POTUS. It's a thing but damn, this was a political creation, that has been an issue for DECADES, and it helped win Trump an election. I posted back then that the Republicans just let us know that they were going hammer the border as a HUGE issue and it got pushed on Fox. Add in a sprinkle of trans in girls sports and here we are.

Of course, you'd thing that way. You're a democrat. If I was you, I'd run away from it too.

We had record low inflation throughout Trump's 4 years in office. Joe and Kamala just kept spending. Even pushing out the additional billions for chips in recent days contributes to inflation. And how about the inflation reduction act, which contributed to inflation.

The last 4 years has been a shit show.
Both Biden and Trump were at fault for printing money and increasing prices. Trump also caused the price of appliances to skyrocket after he imposed tariffs on Chinese steel.

Curious about inflation this next go around. If the tariffs get enacted. How will the Fed respond? Trump won’t want an increase in interest rates. Will the economy be heading towards stagflation.

How many industries use components via Mexico. This will get interesting quickly.

Do Europe and the rest of Asia next!

What a time to be a Great Patriot Worker again, as we lift the weight of the Foreign Imperialists off our backs! There is NOTHING good about Free Markets when it comes with Imported Poison and Criminal Rapists who flow across our Great Borders! Beautiful Tariffs will empower ALL Patriots!

Notice! Only the Anti-Patriotic Democratic Scum are against these measures. MAGA!

As explained many times, it was not biden's inflation it was worldwide inflation that started under Trump and continued under biden. Biden the administration did a good job of reigning it in and here we are.
