Teske committs to PSU

Guilbon was that way too and was a far better wrestler coming out of HS than Teske is. Guilbon was good on his feet and on the mat. Teske is not good on the mat and has trouble finishing on his feet. I don't see high AA. Maybe a couple 6-8 finishes at best if he even wins the spot. Conaway had better skills.
And, Gulibon had his career go in reverse when he was bumped up a weight to accommodate the team... We all saw that he was small for the weight and yes, Gulibon was a better prospect coming out of high school.

give the PSU staff a kid with talent and no quit and you generally end up with a pretty successful competitor. ....He reminds me of Nico.
The kid eventually competes for a title, earns multiple AAs and including his RS season probably is a member of 5 NCAA team championships.

Wasn't aware Cael could do that.

Just curious....has PSU had any HS recruit that "competed for a title and earned multiple AA's" who was not top 1 or 2 in weight class and not in top 30 p4p?

BTW thats 1 lightweight, 1 middleweight & 1 upperweight with 9 AAs, 4 finals and 2 NCs among the three with the highest ranking being #68.

Honest question, was he a Cael recruit?
No, but that wasn't the question. And he did spend 3 out of his 4 competing years under Cael.
Oh thats fine, I'm not following the thread, just saw Molinaro and couldn't remember if he was Caels or not. I'm not wanting to be apart of this quarrel

Strange things happen in the world of phone browsers and autocorrect. But thanks for bringing this to mind:

The original claim was that Cael could take a guy like Teske and turn him into someone "competing for a title and earns multiple AAs."

I followed up by asking if Cael has done that with anyone who wasn't a top 1 or 2 guy in his weight class and not in the top 30 p4p.

I could agree Matt Brown fits that description. The others you mention, not so much.

Conaway doesn't, in that he never competed for a title, if one defines that as being a finalist. Conaway finished 8th and 6th. Only by a very loose definition is that "competing for a title." One would have to include every ncaa qualifier as "competing for a title."

Molinaro... by strict criteria, does not fit the description either. Molinaro was already an AA at PSU as a Fr, before Cael inherited him.

The larger point -

The guys Cael "develops" into ncaa finalists and multiple time AA's are almost exclusively guys who are #1 or 2 in their HS weight class and top 30 (many top 10 actually) guys p4p.

Many guys do improve under Cael. Some underperform.

But let's be real. Cael is killing everyone in the recruiting game. I wouldn't read too much into his "development skills" beyond that.

Since you ask if Cael had done that with anyone, not if he had recruited and developed, Molinaro fits without any room for stretch. Molinaro spent 3 years with Cael, Casey and Cody. Not sure who you want to give credit for his development.
Cael does out recruit and his development of his athletes is just fine.
As far as where Teske ends up. The kid has talent, he is aggressive and he has no quit. He will develop and be successful.

My guess is that Cael recruits over Teske so we'll never know. I know your fan base will be would be very upset with Cael if he didn't try put Teske in the rearview mirror - and soon. I'd have like to see Teske go to ISU and see what he could do with four years on the mat.

I hope I'm wrong.
