Tesla no longer accepting Bitcoin.

You have to separate what Elon says versus what his companies have done. Tesla and SpaceX both adding Bitcoin while he’s publicly criticizing it.

Probably not a big deal here, but wonder why something like this gets to the point where it becomes an out in the open public event:

JPMorgan are professional crooks, they have a $180 PT on TSLA. I wish there was a transparent way for everyone to know just how large of a short position they and their friends hold before filing this lawsuit. This is right out of the short and distort playbook that Jim Cramer talks about in his hedge fund video.

@Bank of Hawk

I thought I remembered something about how much fossil fuel investments JP Morgan has…

Tesla is a direct threat to their investment portfolio and a huge conflict of interest in filing this lawsuit. Will be interesting to see how it plays out but I will continue to assert JPM’s intentions and motivations are rotten to the core.

Bernie Sanders is on the take from oil and gas companies. That explains his twitter account drivebys against Elon Musk.

It used to be his populist socialism railing against of “the millionaires & billionaires” until…..Bernie himself became a millionaire. He has 3 homes. So relatable right? Now he dropped the “millionaires” from his rallying cry…..wonder why.

The thing is vaporware. It was supposed to be in production by now. They still haven’t purchased the tooling to build it.

Whoever the guy or gal’s job it is to drive this vaporware around will surely appreciate this information!

The business is cell/supply constrained, they are optimizing battery cell deployment to maximize profits and further the mission. Ie making cars not semis. Besides, Tesla Semi won’t go into production until 4680 supply production scale has been reached. Need about 1 more year, give or take. Tesla, Panasonic, CATL, and others will all be producing 4680s by then I believe.

There are also Weiner-mobiles driving around. Building a few cybertruck mules doesn’t mean the thing is anywhere near a reality.

Like I said, the thing was promised in 2019 and meant to be delivered in 2021. It’ll be 2022 next week and they haven’t bought the tooling to build this. The longer it goes, the more it’s looking like the Roadster.

Maybe delayed things waiting for pandemic issues to abate?
If existing production was affected, I can only assume bringing additional production online would exacerbate that in the short term.

With respect to tooling costs for the truck's manufacturer, this is interesting:

The pandemic and the chip shortage didn’t change the economics of the thing. The pricing they stated just doesn’t make sense. It’s not a desirable project for them, so it’s on the back burner.

They haven’t even decided on a size for the thing, whether it will have side mirrors, or how any of the unsexy stuff like windshield wipers will work. Elon keeps adding things to his wishlist that will dramatically change the engineering of the thing, four-wheel steering and changing the motor array.

It’s been two years. They still don’t have a final design. Rivian is delivering vehicles. Ford has given dealerships dates for the Lightning.

I don't follow this closely, but how old is that info?

Cybertruck's design turned out to be incredibly inviting, but Tesla made some changes to its original appearance, which was unveiled at the presentation. However, for now, the company has finished all the development of the pickup, and is no longer iterating at the design level, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said during the Q4 2020 Earnings Call.
...
Tesla will first need to set mass production of 4680 battery cells that will power the electric pickup truck, which will probably only happen by the end of 2021. In this regard, Musk said that if the company is lucky, the first few deliveries of Cybertruck will begin in 2021, but mass production is not expected until 2022.

The mirror thing is kind of funny. Bumping into archaic law:

In the case of side mirrors - they are required by law in the U.S. (Europe already allows the use of cameras and displays), which means that they must stay in this form or something similar.
However, since owners are allowed to modify their vehicles, the side mirrors will probably be removable. As we understand, Tesla will make them easily removable so the owner could use cameras/displays instead.

I'm going out on a limb and expecting the company that most engineers want to go work for will come up with a windshield wiper. Just kind of hard to imagine the project gets this far, and falters on a windshield wiper.

Elon added 4-wheel steering to the thing in July of this year, and said it would be able to crab walk in response to the Hummer.

They can say they have a final design, but they’re clearly still figuring it out, see the rear suspension design required for 4-wheel steering.

The windshield wiper comment wasn’t meant as an unassailable problem, but rather an indicator that they’re still figuring out the basics. Ford is selling Lightning accessories.

Here’s a question: How long is the Cyber Truck?

420/69 cubits.

The Cybertruck's dimensions put it in line with other full-size trucks on sale today such as the F-150, Ram 1500 and Silverado 1500. Specifically, the Cybertruck is 231.7 inches long, 79.8 inches wide and 75 inches tall, with seating for six adults. Off-road performance looks decent too, with a 35-degree approach angle, a 28-degree departure angle and up to 16 inches of ground clearance.

F150 Crew Cab long bed length
The SuperCrew has two different bed size options. When equipped with the 5.5-foot bed, the truck has an overall length of 231.9 inches (about 18 feet). The available 6.5-foot bed brings the truck's overall length to 243.7 inches (about 20 feet).

When I went to FSU my girlfriend's dad was a former bombardier/navigator for B-52s over Vietnam.
In the garage he didn't hang a tennis ball for the wife. There was an X on a piece of paper on the wall that would be in front of the driver's position. On driver's side wall was a piece of paper with a square. She was expected to line up with both of them when parking the conversion van in their garage.
Might need something like that to squeeze a big ass truck into a 20'x20' garage.

I'm not. EVs are fantastic once produced, but the production is often overlooked and come with their own set of drawbacks that many EV owners claim they're against.
This is the same argument people who try to denigrate wind turbines use. The reality is though, that while there are some negative effects (because building anything does this), those issues are miniscule in comparisson to the primary issue EV's are meant to address and that is climate change. So to sit there and try to insinuate that EV's are just as bad as gas vehicles is either completely disingenuous or very uninformed. Neither one of those is good.

what is your definition of 'minuscule'?
