"The United States women's basketball team doesn't need
Caitlin Clark in order to be dominant at the Paris Olympics, but the No. 1 pick could've helped them sell tickets.
According to Juliet Macur of the New York Times, this weekend's game between the United States and Germany isn't exactly a hot ticket.
The Olympics has a "special offer" available where fans can grab tickets to this Sunday's game for just 24 Euros. In theory, fans can sit near the first row for that price.
"Paris 2024 is having trouble selling tickets to the US-Germany women’s basketball game on Aug. 4. ‘Special offer’ tickets now available: only 24 Euros each and the seats can be anywhere in the venue. Maybe front row,"
Macur wrote on X. "Would’ve been a sellout with Caitlin Clark on the team."
This isn't a great look for Team USA's marketability, especially after it had low attendance numbers for its opener against Japan.
It was previously reported that just over 13,000 fans attended this week's game between the United States and Japan. For comparison's sake, Spain and China had over 27,000 fans at their game. "
