The Elon Musk Twitter shitshow

Wonderboy wants his cake and...

It is less than a year since Elon Musk told advertisers who were shunning his social media site, X, that they could take their business elsewhere permanently. In fact, he encouraged them to do so. “Don’t advertise,” he said, amid a backlash over his endorsement of an antisemitic tweet. “If someone’s going to try to blackmail me with advertising, blackmail me with money, go fvck yourself.”

The instruction had the virtue of clarity. Everybody knew where they stood. Advertisers who took the view that X has become a poisonous sewer under Musk’s ownership – or even just those who merely regarded the site as the wrong place to promote soap and suchlike – could seek other venues. And X would thrive or fail without them.

Now Musk has had a change of heart. X has launched a lawsuit in Texas claiming it is the victim of an “illegal boycott” by advertisers. Unilever and Mars, the consumer goods groups, Danish windfarm operator Ørsted, and American healthcare group CVS Health are the targets, alongside a body called the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (Garm). The companies, supposedly, withheld “billions of dollars in advertising revenue” from X in a malicious conspiracy that violated US antitrust law.

I’d rather bank with these guys

Now a good portion of the population think Musk is just a rich nutjob with a far right agenda.

I think when people say things like this they are simply projecting.

I think “a good portion of the population” have heard of Elon Musk but don’t really know much about him at all.

So who is right?

I believe in the chess world this is referred to as “Checkmate.” Any victory against the criminal censorship cabal is a good one. Long live Free Speech.

Advertising Coalition Shuts Down After X, Owned by Elon Musk, Sues

The Global Alliance for Responsible Media will dissolve after Mr. Musk accused the group of orchestrating a boycott.

I suppose you believe these companies will just return to advertising on Twitter?

We’ll see.

Well, if you want to debate semantics "a good portion of the population" can mean a lot of different things. It can also mean that both are true. "A good portion of the population" does not mean the same thing as "most of the population".

I’ve seen some dumb stuff written by humans, but that is right up there. There is no way a rationale human being with a functioning brain thinks this.
If you ever click on the Twitter handle for these people PF quotes there is always some sort of Musk fanboy identifier. It’s very creepy.

I think there are many PFs out there in the Musk cult. I’m sure he has a Twitter account that others repost on some other random message board.
