The New WBB Recruiting Thread

Bre Cera suffered a broken finger in her last game (after scoring 11 of her teams 21 points) and is expected to be out for at least a couple of games. Her Mkwonago team is ranked #1 in their class.

Jinaya Houston had 18 and 22 points in two wins to open the season.
Amanda Ollinger had 20 in her second game (after 30 in the opener.

Bre Cera actually suffered a broken 3rd metacarpal bone in her shooting hand diving for a loose ball

So, the bone above her middle finger. Ouch. Any prognosis on the time until she will be able to return to the court?

The long hand bone below her middle finger. I understand it broke vertically down the middle and no surgery required. She will most likely be back by first week in January.

Naya with 18 last night in a 20 pt win for Davenport North over Burlington.

Alexis Sevillian continued her 20+ scoring games with 22. She had 25 and 26 in the first two.

Amanda Ollinger had 16 points and 7 in a loss to city high. she was in foul trouble and fouled out.
Ashley Joens of City High had 25 points and 11 rebounds. She had 31 and 13 rebounds in her previous game against CR Jeff. She is a 5-11 Soph. Reminds me of Ally Disterhoft at that age.
Makenzie Meyer had 18 in a win. Her FR sister, Meagn, had 15 off the bench.

Houston with 21 points tonight against Muscatine. Despite being double teamed a lot she looked great, hard to stop when she goes to the rim, great slasher with a nice touch. She sat the last 5 min of the game in a beat down,we got a very good player in our own back yard for sure.

Paige Bradford is someone a D1 school might be watching at 6'1" and probably close to 190 give or take a few pounds, a very nice player North has and just a 10 grader.

North will be a State contender for sure this year and only losing 1 player off there squad and she is there 1st player off the bench.

[...] Sevillian led Goodrich to a 54-36 victory against Davison with 25 points.

“It’s a different adjustment but it’s a good role for me to prepare for next year to be a leader and help my teammates when they need it instead of being helped,” Sevillian said.

The Iowa signee knocked down five 3-pointers, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists despite getting in early foul trouble. Sevillian went 6 for 6 at the free-throw line as well.

Selland Impresses

A handful of college basketball coaches – including ones from South Dakota State and the University of South Dakota – were in attendance Monday afternoon to watch Sanborn Central-Woonsocket junior standout Myah Selland.

The 6-foot-2 first team Class B all-state player remains uncommitted on her college decision, and as she proved in a 68-47 win over Gayville-Volin, she may be ready for the highest level.

Selland recorded the following stat line: 27 points, 10 rebounds, 9 blocks, 7 assists and 3 steals.

“She’s 6-2 and can handle the ball,” Gayville-Volin coach Matt Malloy said. “There’s a reason colleges like USD and SDSU were here to watch her.”

Malloy compared Selland’s all-around game to that of Viborg-Hurley standout Abby Hora, who Gayville-Volin sees a couple times a season.

“She’s pretty comparable to Abby Hora, but she’s the 6-2 version,” Malloy said. “She’s extremely poised and makes everyone on her team better.”

It wasn’t as though Gayville-Volin was unprepared for Selland’s talents. No, Malloy’s team had practiced for a couple days with Selland in mind.

“But we just didn’t make adjustments on her,” he said.
