Surprised Ohio State is favored.

Penn State should be able to beat Boise

ASU and BSU having byes and Oregon and OSU playing each other in the quarters is dumb. They should go to some kind of computer ranking like Massey and ignore the conference winners as a criteria for inclusion and seeding. BSU wouldn't have even made the field, let alone received a bye. Them and ASU would have been replaced as byes by Ohio St, Notre Dame, or Texas. No SMU. No Clemson, No Boise.

8,12,16,20,24,100 it doesn't matter how many teams you throw at it because every year it will be a combination of these teams to reach the final 8 in the play off. Oh, there will be the rare anomaly team from time to time but no matter how they bake it it will be one of these 10 teams.
Ohio State
Alabama
Notre Dame
Michigan
Georgia
Penn State
Texas
Oregon
Oklahoma
USC

Schools with the big time NIL (and competent coaching) are going to rise to the top and be in the hunt for the National Championship.

This year's National Champ will likely be one of these 5:
Texas finally has their act together
Oregon--Nike money
Ohio State--$20M roster this year
Penn State--somehow always underachieves
Georgia--not going anywhere, either

I think this is a pretty accurate depiction. I don't know that Oklahoma belongs in this group any longer though. They seem to be on more of a Nebraska trajectory right now. Same for USC. It's pretty hard to consistently compete for championships when you're maybe the 5th or 6th best program in your own conference and that's where these 2 are at right now.

And they will max out revenue sharing to add to the funds available for football

The Big 10 isn’t dominant in any way shape or form. They are a 3 (and sometimes 4 if Michigan is right) team conference. At least in terms of national prominence and actual elite teams. Maybe USC gets back there.

But really the Big 10 is 13 programs churning and trying to be the best of the rest. The “bottom” 13 programs should have their own playoff and champion.

In this CBS Sports article, they write that tweaks to the CFP are likely coming (example: eliminating the automatic byes for conference champs is a simple tweak that should be considered and would likely improve competition).

Are Ohio State & Oregon the 2 best teams remaining, as they argue? If so, unfortunately, one of them is getting knocked out 2 ROUNDS EARLY.

CBS Sports writes that if you reseeded the 8 remaining teams, you'd have this:

#1 Oregon vs #8 Boise State
#4 Notre Dame vs #5 Texas
#2 Ohio State vs #7 Arizona State
#3 Georgia vs #6 Penn State

Well, they aren't going to leave an SEC out of the 1st final despite the down year. Match ups were made for a reason.
