There has to be a decent chance game gets postponed tomorrow..

Iowa vs Nebraska in 2013? Lincoln was supposed to be a Thursday? Got pushed to Saturday or Sunday due to weather.

Then Iowa vs Indiana because the roof fell in.
Jees, the roof didn't fall in. A piece of trim fell to the floor causing some inspections to be done. If this thread continues, someone will claim the building collapsed.....:eek:

It's really terrible honestly. My kids had school cancelled THIRTEEN times last January/February. I would say at best, half of those days ended up even being a day I could understand it being cancelled (a couple of days of it being unbearably cold and a couple days of bad snow/ice). The other half ... either light dusting or nothing at all. There were at least 2-3 days where they cancelled because the weather report said it was going to be bad so they cancelled for precautionary reasons and it ended up not even snowing that day.

I feel/sound like a "get off my lawn" old man when talking about it but it really is kind of pathetic. I am all for safety but this goes extreme on the other side. Kids start to think anytime there are bumps in the road, they are going to get bailed out. The way it is snowing right now, they would have never cancelled school for that 30 years ago.
Growing up in Cedar Rapids in the late ‘60s to mid ‘70s, it took about 10 inches of snow to cancel school. I would guess we had no more than around 3 snow days from third grade thru high school. One day around ‘73 we got out at 1 or 1:30 because of an ice storm. Never had a delayed start, and never a day cancelled due to temperature. 20 below? Too bad.....school was in session.

Back in the 60's, we had a 1/2 mile walk to the bus stop on top of the hill. Got -25 many times with school never being cancelled. I was in 5th grade and my brother in 2nd. For the only time in my life, I was glad to see the school bus coming round the corner to haul me off to school.

In the Davenport School System, I remember one day where school was cancelled due to temperature: the wind chill was 90 below zero. It was 1979 I believe.

had to walk a mile & a 1/2 to and from school uphill both ways. -60 without wind chill factored in. Ma would boil eggs for us to put in our mittens to keep hands warm and then we'd have eggs for lunch. all kidding aside I have heard real life stories about the eggs. makes sense.

this is an one of those extreme examples where you should consider letting students & minors in for free;

maybe make adults pay?
I totally agree. I checked the tickets last night on Hawkeye sports and I'm reminded of our INSANE across the board ticket pricing policy. All Tix are $35? Even in the corners? In perfect weather that's a big reason we don't sell out, not to mention dumb. In weather like this it's just ridiculous.

I go to a ton of sporting events all over almost never are all Tix same price. Our sports marketing and ticketing depts just suck.

Yep. I graduated in 98 and I bet I could count the times school got cancelled on one hand. Seems like they cancel all the time now and it hardly ever ends up getting bad.
Hell now I see school getting cancelled for it being too hot lol

Good thing it wasn’t unless you are a Michigan fan! Cost me the price of a hotel room to avoid driving home in that mess....but worth every penny!
