Garza great - check

Average defense at best - check
Dependent on good outside shooting - check
B1G is tough - check
Very good B1G team with a chance to win some big games at the end and in the tournaments - check

Keegan has been a big surprise on the plus side. Nunge is worse than I expected on the outside, better than I expected on the inside, PMac is a work in progress - flashes of good and not so good.

The good and bad of this team was pretty predictable.

So, why get upset when it all comes true?

Because half the board expected Iowa to go undefeated.

I think everyone got a bit over excited because all the starters from last year were coming back and they added a healthy Bohannon and a healthy Nunge.

Don’t think we can crown them though, B1G champs or NCAA Champs. Long road ahead so who knows, just enjoy the ride for what it is, the Hawks playing high level basketball and competing for wins in the Top 10 or 20. Hope they can get it together and get on a roll to finish the season and burn up the nets during the tourney’s.

Most of us were probably in elementary school when Iowa had its last dynamite, final four potential team. I think most of us (myself included) were over zealous about a run like that again. And if we have to wait another 30 something years, most of us might be dead.

But, still a team that’s capable of making a run in the tournament. Get CJ back, feed Garza play inside out, and let’s see what happens. One bad loss, just 4 overall. Get a 3, 4, heck run at a 2 seed still...who knows.

Who thought we would be good on defense going into the season? We have Garza who is probably the player of the year but is probably the slowest Center in the Big Ten. Bohannon very good shooter but coming off double hip surgery and was bad on defense before. I could go on about the rest of our starting 5 but nobody can keep anyone in front of them. At any position. We are a top 3-4-5 efficient offense and we have to be. Like OP said, they are who we thought they were. At least if you were paying attention.
