This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

"ProRussian channels are currently saying that the Ukrainian Army is preparing to take over #Transnistria , a narrow strip of "separatist" land from neighboring Moldova (similar to Uka's Donbas). Transnistria has ~5k soldiers, of which ~1.5k Russian soldiers."

No underestimation, it's expected so no extra special platitudes. I can't imagine the logistics of POTUS going into Iraq or Afghanistan, let alone a modern European country at war, either. The fake air raid sirens after all the warning to do nothing were a bit much though
Fair enough.

But you really think Russia didn't realize interrupting the Biden visit would be an opportunity?

You mean the one that pushed NATO countries to start ponying up their share before it was too late? What Putin do from 2017 to 2020? I know it's hard for you to grasp, I'm glad he went. He SHOULD have (the point) and probably sooner.

After many years of reading threads here, I have learned that some individuals have lost the ability to understand reality, and that discussions with those so-handicapped is a waste of time.

One of the keys to figuring out what Russia is planning to do is to listen to what Russia says other people are going to do.

While horrific, I think it will only be pictures like that which drive home to the Russian people what is going on and what will happen to their sons, fathers, brothers, and uncles. Hopefully pictures like this will foment action among the college students which are now to be mobilized.
The smart ones left the country already. The remaining ones will go like sheep. The pictures will not reach the right eyes. So many who have loved ones in that pile of bodies live in poverty in rural areas, and get their news from the FSB. Until the kids of important people die there won’t be movement. They might be calling up college kids, but the connected ones will get out of going to Ukraine.

1. They view Carlson, Trump, and MTG as allies to the Russian cause, and
2. They realize the power of the Biden visit and strengthening Ukranian resolve.

Biden's trip might be the ultimate turning point in the conflict and even furthers the West.
That comment was pretty shocking. And DeSantis got thrown in there as well.

With the current apparent momentum for Ukraine, I think it's only a matter of time before the US/NATO furnish fighter jets.
JMO.
Too late, probably. My wish is for longer range rockets. Every f****** Leopard we can scrounge up, shells of every caliber, and every Soviet/Russian plane and chopper we can buy around the world. Starting with the 20+ in Poland and Slovakia, then scrounge the world for anything that can still fly, or frames that can be used for parts.

Interesting read on the efficacy of the recent nuclear sabre rattling:

It is dumbfounding that Putin has unleashed this provocation. He must know that Russia’s economy and its military-industrial complex—barely able to sustain a conventional war on their border—are in no shape to engage in a renewed nuclear arms race. He must also know that the United States would likely match whatever steps he might take in this race. Congress recently passed a massive increase in the defense budget by a huge bipartisan majority. The budget includes funds to develop new weapons for all three legs of the “nuclear triad”—land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarine-launched ballistic missiles, and bombers—and that was before the State Department’s declaration of Russian noncompliance with New START.

Even in gross numbers, Putin could not hope to race ahead. A detailed analysis by the Federation of American Scientists concludes that, if both sides breached New START limits by fully loading their missiles and bombers, the United States could increase its arsenal of long-range nuclear warheads and bombs from 1,670 to 3,570, while Russia could increase its arsenal from 1,674 to 2,629.

Then again, Putin has made several dumbfounding moves in the past year. It’s not out of the question that he could make another, however self-destructive it might be.

I'd bet a good sum of $$$ that the US/NATO coalition is doing WAYYYY more than what we think in regards to supporting Ukraine.

Even to the point of having "advisors" embedded with Ukrainian forces.

Off the record, of course.

Weird that members of the GQP foam at the mouth over kids being groomed at a pizza parlor in Connecticut, but won’t attempt to save thousands of children who have been forcibly removed from Ukraine.
Trafficked.
