This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Meh. If it got to the right places might burn something like wiring, won't destroy it I wouldn't think. US tanks have pretty good fire suppression systems in the driver's compartment, the turret and the engine compartment. Not sure what Russians have, though.

A truck however, could be taken out with one.

What about the mobile Russian rocket shooters?

The ones with like 8 cannons pointed upwards?

When I was contemplating the possible counterattack near Kiev, I wondered if that infamous traffic jam would help to screw up the Russians retreating, or at least their ability to maneuver.
FWIW in Manstein's book Lost Victories, he promoted letting the Russians exhaust themselves in attacks and then counter attacking. The idea was for the Germans to then withdraw to new defensive positions and defend again until the Russians were bled dry. (Simplified version.) I am hoping that the Russians up there are spent.
Hitler gave Manstein the ability to employ this strategy after the fall of Stalingrad in the spring of 1943 and the Germans won their last great victories of pretty much the rest of the war.

I don't know if it's ironic ironic or Alanis Morrisette "ironic" in relation to the current war that the highpoint of the German counteroffensive in the spring of 1943 was retaking Kharkov, or as we now know it Kharkiv.

The weather or spring thaw led to the cessation of the counter offensive, which left a big bulge in the German lines, leading to the big battle at Kursk.

Even though the Germans retook Kharkov, destroying large numbers of Soviet troops, the spring thaw stopped the counter offensive, and we all know what impact that had on future operations.

Coal is just so much dirtier than the rest of fossil fuels. I am no tree hugger but I think we can at least try to cut out the worst. If you have ever been to large cities in many Asian countries (China and Taiwan I have seen in person) you would agree.
I live in Colorado and all of our electricity comes from coal. We burn it much cleaner than China does due to our regulations.

NATO is NATO. We are NATO. I want no part of any war, nor should you. Only bad things can happen, you should know that living near the arsenal.
Man, I'm agreeing with this guy, but you're right. NATO is NATO, I doubt any NATO country or countries in Europe could operate militarily independent of the rest of the alliance.

Poppycock. France operates militarily in Africa, they’re part of NATO. US invaded Iraq and Afghanistan and are part of NATO. Turkey intervened militarily in Libya in 2020, they are part of NATO.

It looks like China may send military aide to Russia :(

This is one article with three others disputing this. The fact that China stocks went up today seems to suggest this is not a fact. China for all its bluster does not want sanctions. Say what you will, but they let Russia be the Guinea pig, they will not follow in their footsteps.

I hope you're right.

It seems to be dictators vs. Democracies.

About time! We have to do everything to help Ukraine eliminate the Russian artillery and rocket launchers bombarding their cities and killing civilians. We have a drone that can independently target and destroy 18 tanks in one sortie. Real game changer here if we get our drones involved.
Yes let’s be sure we tell the Russians exactly what we’re doing. But truly I’m just wondering why we haven’t sent over several hundred already.

I have Yum China stock and it’s going to have to go up a TON to get back where it was two months ago.

He said the Euro countries’ ability to operate independently, so toss what the US does essentially alone.
And he’s right.
When the French bomb Mali it’s like 4 Mirage fighters to send a message and a few dozen guys on the ground while they provide equipment to the locals.
Turkey has sent some material, and a very limited set of things like SP artillery and air defenses, but they relied on Syrian mercs for their ground contribution. Good read on the recent parts of the conflict here. The part about the Turks developing wild weasel tactics with their drones is cool.

It appears that the drones from Turkey have been very effective. At this point they may be free anyway, but they cost a fraction of what the super duper US drones cost.

Plus apparently, the Turkish drones come with Turks to operate them!

Levent Kenez/Stockholm

Turkish-made Bayraktar armed drones deployed by the Ukrainian army to destroy Russian military targets in the recent conflict were apparently operated by Turkish personnel provided by the government of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to the disposal of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s government in Kyiv.

So the markets seem to believe that China’s agreement to help militarily was just to provide Russia strength in negotiating.
