This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Azerbaijan is making this moving against the Russian supported Armenians.

If you don’t recognize how this is related to the war let me explain that trainload of IFVs and trucks was leaving Sochi, down on the Black Sea, near the Caucasus where Azerbaijan and Armenia are to be found.

Azerbaijan smells the blood in the water.
Tapping fingers impatiently waiting for Georgia to open a second front

Dude, Japan had retreated from China, lost its Navy and Air Force in the Pacific and the allies were at their mainland in June.
What capacity did Japan have militarily in August when the bomb were dropped?

How do you just lose a Navy and an Air Force in the Pacific. They should have been more mindful and put stuff where they knew they could find it.

Thousands of kamikaze aircraft held back for that purpose as well as thousands of boats filled with explosives to also be used as kamikazes. Please read a book.

Alright - just made my way to the start of this guy's twitter where he decides to go to Ukraine and fight. Pretty amazing to see someone like that step up and he right in the middle of this fighting it out with the Ukrainians and other foreign soldiers.

He posted his venmo for anyone inclined. I haven't looked to confirm but will likely throw some $$$ his way for a truly heroic action on his part.

Edit to add - his venmo is james-vasquez-34 I just threw some money his way and looks like others are doing the same. Hope he gets back safe.

Russian Nazis kidnap upwards of 400,000 humans

“Lyudmyla Denisova, Ukraine’s ombudsperson, said 402,000 people, including 84,000 children, have been taken against their will.”

Oh for FFS, is this real? That is as war-crimey as it gets.

"Projected."

No one knows what would have happened but we do know the U.S. deliberately killed hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians during the war. Men, women and children.

That's all I'll post about it so we can stay on topic.
They dropped the bombs on cities that had significant military facilities.

Did anyone else pause and play the instrumentals in their head to stay on time with the original lyrics?
Somehow I can bring those instrumentals vividly into my brain just by thinking about that song...

Old School Shit.

Good that should be easy for you to prove. Link it for me.

Has Q given any updates on the war? Just trying to stay informed and listen to all sides.
Yes. It's being run by the deep state for the benefit of the deep state.

I'm serious. The Q guy in our office was playing a video on the war that ended with "This is not a theory. It's not a conspiracy. It's not a conspiracy theory. The Deep State is real."

Speaking Thursday, Nehammer denied reports in the Austrian press claiming his government was in talks to agree to an embargo on Russian energy. The reality couldn't be further from the truth he said, adding that talk of a Russian energy boycott is "unrealistic and wrong".

"It doesn't work. Austria gets 80% of its gas from Russia." What's more, rumors of a boycott are harmful in and of themselves, because they serve to drive energy prices higher.

Austria depends on Russia for nearly 60% of its total energy consumption, and an even larger share of its natural gas imports, as Nehammer noted, which is why growing pressure from US President Joe Biden to restrict imports of Russian energy simply isn't feasible.

Speaking later in the day ahead of a meeting of EU leaders, Nehammer reiterated that Austria was opposed to a boycott of Russian energy. And Austria isn't alone, as Nehammer explained that many of his European neighbors, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria are equally dependent on Russian energy supplies, making a boycott "unrealistic." Even as some of those same nations prepare to host larger numbers of NATO troops, Russia could unleash serious economic damage simply by restricting energy supplies.

Instead of imposing new sanctions, Nehammer said the EU should focus on closing "loopholes" in existing sanctions.

Nehammer isn't the only senior Austrian official to repudiate the push to limit Russian energy exports. Back in February, Austria opposed adding sanctions on Nord Stream 2 to a package of EU sanctions, a battle that it eventually lost. He's also not the only European leader to oppose Russian energy sanctions. Just yesterday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz again dismissed calls to boycott Russian energy.

Not to argue, but the U.S. was at the Japanese mainland in May. War is over in Europe, Japan was on it's last leg. Still dropped the bombs.
You need a history lesson. Okinawa is a tiny island that is as close or closer to Taiwan than it is Tokyo. It's not one of the four main islands. Japan was not willing to surrender even after all the fire bombing - they were preparing for a land assault. Estimates are that a million or more would have died in that circumstance.

Hell, they didn't even surrender after the first bomb.

"Because Japanese geography did not provide many invasion beaches, the Japanese organized a strong defense, particularly at Kyushu. Over 10,000 aircraft of various types and sizes were prepared as kamikaze aircraft. Underground networks of bunkers and caves stored food, water, and thousands of tons of ammunition. 2,350,000 regular soldiers and 250,000 garrison troops were deployed, 900,000 of which were stationed in Kyushu by Aug 1945. 32,000,000 militia, in other words all males between the age of 15 and 60 and all females between 17 and 45, were given the task to supplement the regular military; their weapons include everything from antique bronze cannons to Arisaka rifles, from bamboo spears to Model 99 light machine guns. Perhaps the eeriest fact was that after the war the United States discovered even children were trained to become suicide bombers when necessarily, strapping explosives around their torsos and rolling under the treads of American tanks. "This was the enemy the Pentagon had learned to fear and hate", said Dan van der Vat, "a country of fanatics dedicated to hara-kiri, determined to slay as many invaders as possible as they went down fighting".

This thread is like a great TV show. The first 100 pages were epic like the first few seasons of a show.

Then it loses its luster because of bad writing. Which in this case is because of posters like you who can't figure out why it so great in the first place.

This is why we can't have nice things

I think it's partially because the war has gone on for a month and there isn't too much new news.

It's basically a stalemate at this point.

I hope Vasquez is better at soldiering than he is grilling. He's abusing those steaks.

My amateur map reading implies this brings them VERY close to cutting off everything south of this. It would bring what looks like the only major road junction leading south towards Kyiv well into artillery range among other things. The Ukrainians might really manage to pinch it off

:: Hindenburg chuckles ::
The city the Ukrainians mention holding, Teterivs'ke is on the Teteriv river (blue line below).
Following the river back to the Kiev resevoir north of Kiev I only see one location with a bridge, and that's in Ivankiv.

Ivankiv is less than 10 miles as the crow flies from Teterivs'ke.
I'm waiting to hear that this city has been retaken, it will mean the entire advance on the western side of the Dneiper is cut off from road supply.

We're not hearing all the news in real time.
