This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

"Bulgakov, Dmitry Vitalievich

Since March 14, 2022 - Acting Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation."

The only concern,

Let's not kid ourselves about the videos coming out. As much as I hate to say it, the reds have some propaganda as well. War is ugly. And in this new game of warfare, the good guys are blended in with the bad, lines are crossed. One of the few diamonds in the rough of this is when it's all sorted out, the bad guys/gals are outed.

In British naval lore, there was a concept called “cappabar” which was the amount you could steal without effecting combat readiness. You could steal strawberries, but not oranges. You could steal whiskey, but not grog. Essentially everything that might be a luxury or was extra, they expected to be stolen.

Russia didn’t get the memo.

Oh no doubt. Putin seriously miscalculated. Russia had spent at least a decade if not more trying to sow divisions in the EU in the US and NATO by playing their Russian troll farm games. And they were successful. They've created massive political division in the US, got Trump elected most likely, and still have several (essentially) Russian operatives in our own political system. Their work was likely behind Brexit as well along with attempts to do the same in France and Germany. And they've even managed to infiltrate a number of NATO countries like Hungary with more authoritarian regimes of their own. I believe they had seen how successful that was and thought that the alliances had been broken. Fortunately he was wrong, and fortunately America had an adult in the room who was willing to rebuild those alliances rather than continue to tear them apart as Trump did.

Had we had another 4 years of Russia being able to keep pulling on those strings who knows what would have happened. I think had Trump been elected Russia likely would not have invaded, but not because they were afraid of Trump, but because he was going to continue to do their work of undermining NATO and America's hard built alliances around the world which would essentially give them what they wanted anyhow.
Good assessment, and I totally agree.

If you want to help equip an American and his Ukrainian compatriots, you can send him $$ via PayPal to JMVasquez1974@gmail.com.

I'm curious about the process of how a guy in a fully engaged combat unit, on the front lines, will take the donations and buy the combat gear. Are there stores there holding boxes of rifle scopes and rails back unless cash is paid? Does Amazon still deliver? Does this "grease the wheels" with the quartermaster?

I thought they’d already started.

The frequency that turrets fly off T-72's is pretty mind bottling.....
A few hundred pages ago there was a nice Twitter thread from one of the US generals who visited a Russian tank factory 10-20 years or so ago. He said the poor quality of the work was immediately recognizable.
Those tanks are coming apart like a can of tuna.

Russia is a garbage country. Their GDP is pathetic. They’re borderline irrelevant. There is no chance they win this war.

Seeing the Bayaraktar video reminded me of my comment that we will see many kids named Bayaraktar in the years to come. The number of kids named Volodymr will skyrocket, too. I imagine Old Navy will have a line of back to school clothing this August in the camo style that Zelensky has been wearing.

Even the revered T-34 of WW2 suffered from poor welds and steel properties.

The T-34 had some good qualities and featured some unique innovations, but it’s number 1 quality was that even the Wehrmacht couldn’t blow them all up as Stalin sacrificed wave after wave of them.

that is what happens when their president is reported as one of the most wealthiest men in the world while creating no wealth on his own merit. He is the Wizard of Oz dressed in expensive Italian clothing.

Or one could compare the Russian military to Bernie Madoff‘s giant Ponzi scheme. Except in this story, Putin is the one who instigated the 2008 collapse. Idiot.
