This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

There is no crossing south of the river at Osane, just swampland.
Osane is a crossroads between Chernobyl and Ivankiv.

Yeah more food for thought about the nuclear threats. I keep reading people crying they have 6000 nukes. They don’t they have 1,458 active nukes with 3,039 available and 1,760 retired. By treaty US and Russia are limited to 1550 nukes.

Reading stories like this, I am majorly skeptical they have spent the money to keep these complex bombs and delivery systems maintained, which is an astronomical cost…as in the US spends about Russia’s entire military budget to do it on our end. If thievery and stealing of funds was so bad they would not even have functioning tanks, it would be even more egregious on something as nebulous as maintaining nuclear arsenal. That would be some easy money to steal that you would never think would come back to haunt you. I suspect most of Russia’s military command and executive command now realize their nukes are a paper Tiger too and MAD is not in the cards on their side.

Another interesting thing is I read somewhere this weekend their claim of 15k tanks was bogus. They are simply claiming a bunch of ancient inoperable junk to get that number and estimates have the real number of maintained and operable tanks in the 2500-4000 range. Meaning they have lost 10-20% of their entire tank fleet in a month.

This just can't be for real...maybe using highways as runways?

In the replies to the fighter jet vs street sign tweet. Putin has agents and assets seemingly everywhere in the west.

"Wow. Austria's secret service allegedly so infiltrated by Russian agents that other EU countries restricted information sharing and Austria's defense ministry was "effectively a branch of [Russian military intelligence] GRU""

Their aircraft are designed to use rough strips. If you look at the top of that intake you’ll notice it is hinged at the front edge. That metal panel can drop down to only allow air through the holes during takeoff to try and prevent Foreign Object Damage from something getting sucked into the engine.

so Russia would rule the areas that they completely annihilated. Short of them purging most of the residents that witness the siege I can’t imagine this is a permanent solution.

Russia hasn't shown that they put anything that resembles quality thought and analysis into their decision making. They are good at stealing, spying, bribing, plundering, raping and murdering. When this doesn't work, as you point out that it won't, they'll crank up the war machine again and take another piece of real estate. Then, the cycle will repeat.

Zelenskyy is going to become the model for wartime propaganda. His speech to the Russians won’t be allowed in Russia, which will just amplify its message.

The thing is, to the authoritarians and oligarchs, those aren't "their own people".

They are pawns, to be manipulated and used in whatever manner necessary to allow the oligarchs to maintain their grip on power.

And what is truly amazing, is that we have people with the exact same mentality here in America, that Americans are duped by and used by in a similar way. Those in power aren't trying to make American better or preserve democracy, they are simply manipulating people to achieve and maintain control and power. And if they are successful, the results will be similar.

yeah, I’m not strategist but regime change and russian retreat along with pulling the curtain back on the nazi lie lays the groundwork for some actual healing. A lot to ask of course. Russia needs to come to grips that they are the guy at the gym that just does arms day.

Ukrainian Member of Parliament - this isn't the first Ukr govt official who has gotten the message from western govts that they really don't want to be bothered with all of this. Some of that is typical rich people comfort and laziness but as we are seeing some of these western govts have compromised Russian assets involved in this.

while true, we at least have the choice to be duped. There is no shortage of information to counter the narrative we choose to believe. I feel sad for people that root for a person and not the country, that root for a slogan and not policy. In Russia they are hearing first hand accounts from family of the atrocities committed by Russias troops and they are so desperate to believe it’s all lies and Russia is on a rescue mission.

"I'll take 'Cleveland & Florida' for $800, Alex"

😉

Heck, toss in Idaho, so long as we have an agreement "rider" for our supplies of fries.
