This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Ukrainian Member of Parliament - this isn't the first Ukr govt official who has gotten the message from western govts that they really don't want to be bothered with all of this. Some of that is typical rich people comfort and laziness but as we are seeing some of these western govts have compromised Russian assets involved in this.

I imagine lots of Americans would gladly play this game.
See? That didn’t take long…

yeah, I’m not strategist but regime change and russian retreat along with pulling the curtain back on the nazi lie lays the groundwork for some actual healing. A lot to ask of course. Russia needs to come to grips that they are the guy at the gym that just does arms day.

I need to find the the two tweets I saved that address this. One, which is long explains that a revolt overthrowing Putin is very unlikely. It went on to say that it is more likely that Russia breaks up into multiple smaller republics, each with nukes. The other tweet, is a shorter thread quoting the Russian PM Medeved where he says the west's goal is to defeat Russia and break it into a bunch of smaller countries that are easily controlled by the west.

A third tweet. which I don't think I saved, another of those long threads, talked about how the various rulers of Russia over the centuries, going back 400 or 500 years were judged by how much of the surrounding lands they conquered. There is no changing their mindset. This is why you see the Russian politician talking about invading Poland and Estonia the other day. They have no means to do this anytime soon but it keeps the people at home placated because they can sit home happy, with an empty refrigerator, knowing that they are kicking ass abroad. This is also why the propagandist on Russia 1 channel was making clear that a treaty with Ukraine would be a loss and the end of Russia.

Russia is a mafia state. They rape, pillage, plunder, kill and seize lands. This is who they are and have been for close to a half a millennium. Reading all of this over the past few weeks, I now understand why Gen George Patton wanted to drive the Russians out of eastern Europe while we had the army there to do it. He repeatedly said that the Russians aren't like us; they aren't Europeans. They don't think like us.

I'll look through my bookmarks to see if I can find the two tweets.

Yeah more food for thought about the nuclear threats. I keep reading people crying they have 6000 nukes. They don’t they have 1,458 active nukes with 3,039 available and 1,760 retired. By treaty US and Russia are limited to 1550 nukes.
If that’s so it will only need to take 10%
Reading stories like this, I am majorly skeptical they have spent the money to keep these complex bombs and delivery systems maintained, which is an astronomical cost…as in the US spends about Russia’s entire military budget to do it on our end. If thievery and stealing of funds was so bad they would not even have functioning tanks, it would be even more egregious on something as nebulous as maintaining nuclear arsenal. That would be some easy money to steal that you would never think would come back to haunt you. I suspect most of Russia’s military command and executive command now realize their nukes are a paper Tiger too and MAD is not in the cards on their side.

Another interesting thing is I read somewhere this weekend their claim of 15k tanks was bogus. They are simply claiming a bunch of ancient inoperable junk to get that number and estimates have the real number of maintained and operable tanks in the 2500-4000 range. Meaning they have lost 10-20% of their entire tank fleet in a month.
If 10% of those nukes work and they hit the US we’re still toast.

Illinois, Baltimore, San Francisco, and Nebraska.

This is on the mark. They’ve got a history as a lot of peasants who aren’t true Europe or China.
Peter and Catherine tried to lean into being very European (French fascination) - and they even brought in the Brit royal cousins through marriage-which they ended up assassinating - but they’re just not quite the same - which is not a bad thing - so please don’t accuse me of an ethnic slur.
Patton was right but Ike was so fed up with him at the time, and the Brits wouldn’t have gone along. War weary was an understatement. And they all thought Patton was just a little too much in love with war itself.

“If ifs and butts were candy and nuts we’d all have a Merry Christmas”...or, hindsight is always 20/20.

I've posted this several times already. Maybe it'll eventually sink in if people read it enough.

That part of the world has a history of genocide and mass deportation. If Putin splits the country expect more of the same. Look up Crimean Tartars and the Turkish genocide of the Armenians.

Is genocide and mass deportation specific to any one part of the globe?
It was part and parcel of building this nation.

Definitely out of fashion now.

Not specific but if you look at Soviet_Russio policy that have historically moved large potions of native populations out while moving Russian populations in within areas under their control. It allows them to then invade claiming they are protecting marginalized Russian minorities.
The Armenian genocide was one of the worst in history and recieves virtually no press. Most people have never heard of it.

I have to begin to wonder who and what you really are. Before the Vikings even sniffed around our shores, there were other invaders who crossed a land bridge no longer in existence seeking new territory to claim and hold by any means necessary.
Yeah we’ve grown a bit since then. What’s Pooty’s excuse?

I think Homo sapiens might’ve committed genocide against Neanderthals. So there’s that.
