This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

I can hear that gif. Not the tone I would use.

Ever is a long time…they’ll be back.

Germany, Japan made it back.

I take "ever" to mean generations. Germany and Japan made it back with assistance from the victors who oversaw the regime changes. Even if Putin is toppled as a result of this, how easily is Russia forgiven if the people who stood behind Putin until now take over if all they've done is withdrawn from Ukraine?

There’s no coming back from this for Russia.

Ever.

Watch a few James Bond movies. Much like how Spectre always has another villain lined up because of money, power and ego there will be an endless line of scumbags - govt leaders, billionaires, corporate executives and others - who will gladly enable Russia because of money, power and ego. Unfortunately, the US is one of the biggest farm teams for Russia enabling scumbags.

While you raise an excellent point, both were neutered after ww2. I would say there is no going back without regime change and the prosecution of war crimes.
6,000 Nukes make that problematic.

It’s his get out jail free card unfortunately.

A pariah state that’s only leverage is boat loads of nukes isn’t a great proposition.
There’s no easy solution to this problem…making them long term outcasts will create its own problems

There is some breathless reporting that Putin and Zelensky may meet in Turkey. The Turks seem to be pushing this as they attempt to position themselves as peace brokers. Hopefully there is something to this, but the Ukrainians are not going to accept any loss of territory, and at this point I cannot see Putin agreeing to meet in person with Zelensky. In his eyes he'd be lowering himself, and he'd be losing prestige at home.

Putin would first need to leave his mountain bunker and make it to Turkey and back without someone on his side killing him.

The LTG is correct. I don't have the faintest idea how our jets, helicopter, missile defense systems, etc work. I can tell you, with regards to M1A2s and M2A3s, it's not a matter of just handing them over and the Ukrainians jumping in and operating them.

Understanding how they work, especially the fire control and communication systems, is something that needs training...a lot of it. Then add in maintenance requirements, maintenance parts, special tools and the like, and it's a big undertaking.

FTR, Javelins are easy to fire. There are trainers that go with them, and learning to operate the CLU (Command Launch Unit) is literally a couple of hours...maybe.

Again, I'm not posting the whole thread because of length, but worth the time to read through this.

Edited to correct LTG Hertling's rank. I was thinking he'd retired a GEN, he didn't get his 4th star.

I didn't open the pic, but...

That's Nazi level s*** right there. It's what the Red Army did in return when they made it to Germany at the end of WW2.
Not that it would matter to them, but this is the stuff that should be plastered at the people trying to make money out of Russia, and the conflict. The Goldman Sachs bros who are working angles on sanctions. Charles Koch...

Right, which is why they are out of the global community, well at least the west, until at least he dies.
We’ll see how it goes…

I have my doubts the wests resolve will hold long term.

There’s also the fact that a sizable portion of the planet isn’t on board. China/India being the chief culprits. Some cheap energy will buy off a bunch of others over time.

Hopefully Ukraines momentum on the battlefield continues and they don’t end up in a long term stalemate.

Agree. They’re also the the dumb clumsy behemoth (nukes) that unfortunately you have to deal with.

No nukes? Flush them down the crapper and don’t give two shits about them. Unfortunately that’s not the reality.
Unfortunately, Putin has pushed reality. Our nice stable post Cold War existence is gone. The problem child (Russia) needs to be sent to detention.

I’ll just post the text because we don’t need more pictures of bodies. Russians clearly knew why they were there.

The bodies of the headman of the village of Motyzhyn, Olga Sukhenko, her husband and son who went missing on March 23rd were found in the mass grave and in a sewer (husband). The three were reportedly tortured before being executed by Russian soldiers.’

Seeing/reading this...... am I supposed to still feel sorry for those Russian teenagers in their invasion forces, who are allowed to call their parents, after capture, and cry that they didn't know what they were getting into??

Fuk all of the invading Russian and Chechen forces. Hope the Ukrainian defenders, and those outside volunteer fighting forces, kills every single one of those murdering Russkies, even the 'innocent' ones that surrendered. Or at least ones that want to surrender in the future.
