This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Human suffering obviously takes precedence but how sad is this...

According to the charity UAnimals, the shelter's 485 dogs remained locked in their cages from the beginning of the war in late February until the beginning of April, after Russian soldiers left Borodyanka and charity volunteers were able to return to the shelter. During that time, the dogs were left without any food or water, the charity said. By the time the volunteers finally gained access to the building on April 1, all but 150 of the 485 animals had died.

This tweet coming from an actual Republican...one who would be the conservative voice of reason on Bill Maher's shows in previous years. Another one who knows her party is completely off the rails.
It's why I won't consider voting for any Republican, ever, UNTIL or UNLESS a conservative candidate openly denounces the authoritarian and racist elements of their party.

You're either for America, or you're against her; 1/6 is a pretty easy litmus test.

Related to the subject of Ukraine polling data...

Here's some polling data from 1939-40 when and after Germany invaded Poland. Before Fox news...before social media...

Pretty informative if you want to take a look...

Americans' Views on Trading Territory for Peace With Hitler in 1940

Funny how in a kleptocracy, the impulse flows all the way down to the bottom:

From a lot of this and transcripts of phone calls back home talking about how well off the Ukraine folks were, I get the sense that Ukraine, not exactly a wealthy nation, seemed like a wealth nation to the average Russian soldier, to put in perspective how poor Russia is....

Yes, really...or we wouldn't have Americans, like shown in another thread, who would prefer Putin as our President. Just let that sink in. Russia has been damaged from propaganda for decades...hell maybe a century. What happened there and in 1930's Germany are things I never thought possible in the US. I was wrong. The last 6 years...and what's very possible coming in the next decade tells me that. Thanks to radical right propaganda channels and programs.

And why are they doing this?

Profit.
Grifting is profitable.

Is that coming from our own "American oligarchs" wanting to shield their earnings from paying their fair share? Or also from the "profits" they've taken in helping launder Putin's money?

Greed is a common thing, regardless of politics. And many people put that above all else - they have zero principles or ethics - they only know "money". And unfortunately, that greed ends up polluting our politics, because they can throw their money around anonymously by spreading this type of propaganda. Some of them WANT the autocracy you see in Russia, because it is profitable as hell.

Tom....one dumb nitwit is anecdotal evidence.

Why don't we look at polling...

85% of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of Russia....we can't get 85% of Americans to agree on almost anything. This is from February...before the atrocities came to light.

Gallup's February World Affairs update, completed before the Feb. 24 invasion, showed that 85% of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of Russia, putting it near the bottom of the list of 19 countries tested. That 85% unfavorable number is the highest Gallup has recorded in the history of asking about Russia since we began using the current question format in 1989. By contrast, the same Gallup poll shows 62% of Americans holding a favorable opinion of Ukraine. Recent polling by YouGov suggests opinions of Ukraine have become even more positive.

Furthermore....Fox's wheelhouse is older folks.

In this poll the folks that are most likely to side with Russia are in the ages 18-29....not Fox's wheelhouse. Those young folks are going down social media rabbit holes apparently.

Tucker Carlson doesn't encapsulate Fox....all the daytime shows that I've seen, are very pro Ukraine.

Tucker Carlson has the most watched show on fox.

Most of those conscripts come from the far East in Russia.
Far away from the influence and glitz of Moscow.

The rest of Russia is a total dump, because all the resources taken from those areas go to oligarchs and their yachts and ocean-front properties/palaces. $0 goes to the infrastructure in those place and improving the lives of those populations.

Fvcking crime - and not just the war variety - perpetrating animals.

I'm calling an eye for an eye. They should round up as many Russian soldiers as possible - even already surrendered ones - tie their hands behind their backs, torture then kill them, and throw their bodies in mass graves all along the UKR/RUS border. Then, kindly, let the surviving families know where to come find & retrieve the remains.

I don't know what's worse than Hell, but Putin deserves even worse than more worse than Hell.

Kill all these motherf***ers. This is the kind of shit that makes me happy inside when I see them getting droned and hope they're trapped inside the tank alive as it burns.

If Ukraine has anything like a Siberia Russian POW’s should be frog marched there. Or held as prisoners and forced to work in cleanup and restoration of the destruction they caused.

You think Merkel, Macron or Sarkozy wanted to see war on the Continent?
The number one purpose of French and German postwar international relations has been to eliminate the prospect of war from the Continent.
They didn’t oppose Ukrainian membership in NATO because they hate Ukraine, or love Russia, but because they appreciated Russia would go to war over it.

Anyone who wants to suppress discussion of that fact is a stooge of the only beneficiaries to this war, the MIC.

Hopefully he can shame them into action.

UN is not capable of action.

It's useful as a diplomatic forum for countries to get together and talk out their problems.

But it's not capable of preventing nations who are determined to go to war from doing so. It's not capable of capturing war criminals and making them pay for their crimes.

And Russia sits with Veto power on the security council.

I mean what exactly is the UN for other than talking. It has no real authority over any of the countries. It's simply a place to allow countries to talk freely and to try to provide humanitarian relief when possible. It's not really a military force of any real power.

This is five years old, but I doubt the relative values have moved much.
Ukraine will by far be the poorest member of the EU when they join.

Lavish parties, junkets, hookers, blow.

He is saying here what I am hearing elsewhere: If Putin doubles down and sends more troops and equipment, and they fail, Ukraine will basically have defeated the entire Russian Army. They are putting most of their fire power into this. They have already lost 25% of their army's operable tanks.

The thing in this equation that is missing is Ukrainian military losses...

For obvious reasons we're not going to get independent (NATO) estimates of Ukrainian losses (don't need to give the Russians that info)

Ukrainian reporting and Russian reporting on the subject can't really be trusted for obvious reasons.

.....Or, Merkel/Germany and Sarkozy/France don't consider the East and Ukraine to be part of the continent
