I'd say it was more likely one of many red flags that were either ignored or explained away as harmless by people too afraid to take action.
Sounds pretty stupid doesn’t it. Just like people thinking that criminals and murders won’t get a gun because it’s against the law. Heck a week ago someone killed a CEO of a company with a gun that he made.

This is where we need intellectual honesty in this country and less tribalism. The truth is there probably are a lot of cases where gender dysphoria is directly linked to mental illness. However, because this issue is a political football, we have lost the ability to look at it through the lens of sanity.
Are normal well adjusted kids commonly 15 in 8th grade? Of course not. As I said, it's likely ONE of many red flags.
