Thoughts on Twitter convo - Clark or Ramos?

I think you're underselling Ramos' NCAA performances a bit. He had the R12 as very small 133, and then obviously went 3, 2, 1 with his only losses at NCAAs being to Logan Stieber.

Yep, I truly believe Ramos was a 4 timer (and eventual world champion) away from being a 3 time champ.

Not underselling anything. Just saying that in all of Cory's NCAAs, only one guy finished above him (Dance) never won a title. The rest did (Garrett, Nico, Brewer, Delgado). Also have to look at guys that finished below Clark who won titles: NATO, Brewer and Cruz. All told, that is six individual champs with the jury still out....bound to be a 7th or 8th with Micic, Gross, Brock and NATO still wrestling. For Tony, he had Oliver, Streibler and Brewer. Overall, Clark had much tougher competition overall. Plus, he won his toughest bracket on one arm. Mama said I could only pick one so I'm going with Clark...nothing against Tony.

Maybe. But Jordan Oliver and Logan Stieber are better than any of Clark's opponents. And Ramos BEAT Oliver, which is better than any Clark win. Regardless, difference of opinion.

I agree with you on Stribleer being better than any Clark opponent. But Clark's win over NATO is just as good as the Oliver win. Not to mention that Clark did it in the semi finals vs Ramos winning at a home dual.

Eh. Disagree. I think Oliver is a decent amount better than NaTo. But again, reasonable minds and all that.

Time will tell. Right now Nato has went 1, 3, 3 with one year remaining and Oliver went 4, 1, 2, 1. Pretty comparable really. As Hawkeye fans it may seem like Oliver is better because Clark and Gilman owned Nato when it matters most. But yes, reasonable minds and all that.

Clark is known to give up his legs from time to time and Mcdonough in his prime was an amazing finisher at pulling in the legs and finishing takedowns. Assuming Mcdonough gets the first takedown I have to favor him because of his mat skills and different ways he scored from the top position. I can see Matt and Tony exchanging wins from eachother based on Tonys skill set and strength being the biggest matchup problem for Matt of the group. Thats just my opinion as I hold high regard for all 4 former hawks.
