Tony Perkins enters the Transfer Portal

I don't think it will be Lickliter bad but we only have 10 scholarship players on the roster right now; 2 of the 10 are guards (Harding and Dix).

Mulvey is not much of an option; not sure if Brauns is, either.

You can have 13 on scholarship; as of now, we have 3 open scholarships.

Current 2024-2025 Roster:

Freshmen: 2 players

6'7" PF Cooper Koch
6'8" PF Chris Tadjo

Sophomores: 4 players

6'10" C Owen Freeman
6'0" PG Brock Harding
6'7" PF Pryce Sandfort
6'8" PF Ladji Dembele

Juniors : 2 players

6'5" SG Josh Dix
6'11" C Riley Mulvey (***) -- on Nov 13, 2023 it was announced that Riley was redshirting the 2023-2024 season. He was originally scheduled to graduate in 2025.

Seniors: 2 players

6'7" F Payton Sandfort

6'9" F/C Even Brauns--a Belmont transfer and Iowa City (IC West High School) native. On May 8, 2023, Iowa officially announced that Even had signed with the Hawks. He had 2 years eligibility remaining at Iowa.
Back to the NIT...... I hope. One point guard and it's Harding..

Most of these takes on Perkins are clueless.

This is "Kris Murray isn't ready for the draft" all over again.

The short sightedness isn't that surprising I guess. People can't remember past two weeks ago anymore.

He's going to go to a good team and get payed a bunch of money.

Seriously, have you guys watched basketball in the last few years? One of the number one factors of success is 5th year players.

Really was hoping he would return. That's a big blow with our lack of guards.

Can't say I blame him. He'll be a hot commodity.
I agree he gave us 4 solid years. He has only so many years to make $ playing bball. He will be highly sought after and I’m sure get 6 figures. I wish he would’ve stayed because sadly I don’t think Iowa will get an upgrade at the G position in the portal. Hope I’m wrong but not holding my breath.

Positionless basketball. Unfortunately several of them couldn’t play any position.

Hate to bag on PMac, but he really didn’t do anything well, especially against athletic teams. I mean he handles the ball pretty well for a 6’9” guy but nothing dominant.

Shooting? Decent to meh from 3 and a lot of junk in the paint (nice dunk vs Utah)

Defensively? Atrocious.

Passing: good

FT’s: good

Rebounding: 😬

It’s not going to happen. NIL won’t move either until people know there’s a coach who embraces the portal and provides new hope. Nothing against Fran, appreciate all he’s done, but Iowa would be smart to make a move quickly, but they won’t.
Fvck no they won't.

We're gonna drag this shit out until no one shows up.

This year was already pretty bad. Unless our lord and savior provides us two miracle stud guards and a true center, Carver will approach lickliter levels this fall.
I think we really need a big bodied 4 over a true center...but then again, there is lots of things our roster needs!

If Moss can end up at Kansas, then I have no doubt Tony will land somewhere....having said that, I wonder if some of these schools who reached out are just basing it on the fact that we was a BT Second Teamer? (half joking) He was definitely deserving, but his overall body of work during the year was very up and down. Who know though, maybe if he gels with a more athletic group of players he may really shine...it will be interesting to see how it plays out for sure.

If Frans not planning to run Mulvey off like he does black guards he just needs to retire.

It took Matt Gatens to threaten to transfer for them to fire Lickliter. When in reality the minute his son was made starting PG. should have gotten him caned.

This is primary reason #1 I have no faith anything will be done until we reach lickliter levels.
I remember having a long debate about you can’t fire Todd in mid season. Come on man he inserted his son who couldn’t get playing time at a DIiI school into the most important position on the floor. This is fantasy camp BS.

Not many outside of the bluebloods can afford to pay that to ONE player.

I don't think Kansas or Kentucky needs him ...perhaps North Carolina will need a one-and-done bridge guard in a rebuilding year. I could also see deep pocket programs like Texas, Michigan and Oregon reaching out.
Carolina has Cadeau who is already better than TP. Struggling with his shot at the moment but a great point.
