Top 16 WBB Reveal on Feb 29th: Iowa was the #7 OVERALL SEED and would have faced #1 OVERALL SEED South Carolina in the Elite 8

My guess at this point:
#1 Overall Seed. South Carolina. They won’t be paired with LSU, so most likely a UCLA, Ohio State or maybe even a UConn.

#2 Overall Seed. Iowa. Won’t be paired with Ohio State, so likely UCLA or LSU or maybe UConn at the two in the bracket. Hoping it’s UCLA.

#3 Overall Seed. Stanford. Can really see them being the #2 overall as well. But won’t be placed with USC or UCLA, so likely Ohio State or LSU at their two seed.

#4 and #5 Overall Seed. USC and Texas. Interchangeable.
I think Stanford is more in danger of losing their 1 seed than people realize.

USC will be a 1 seed, so it's a matter of whether they'll flip-flop with Stanford, who was originally #2, or if they'll be the 3rd 1 seed and Iowa bumps to that 2nd line, with either Stanford or Texas taking the 1 depending on how things go tomorrow.

As for the 2 line this is the competition for the committee:
Texas/Stanford
UCLA
LSU
UConn
Ohio State
Notre Dame

That's 6 teams for those 4 spots (I say 6 because one of Stanford/Texas will be a 1).

Ideally, we want whichever 1 seed gets us UCLA as the 2, because they are the most vulnerable team on that list not named Ohio State (who won't be in our region).

If Iowa State somehow wins tomorrow though, then we could also end up with Texas depending on where the committee drops then, or bumps up others around them.

Texas would be the next team after UCLA that I'd want to see in our region. I'm just playing the chalk game right now and presuming they won't be an option to wind up in that 6th or 7th 2 seed line.

I want absolutely nothing to do with LSU, UConn or Notre Dame.

But I guarantee the committee will get ratings-greedy and f*** us over so that they can get their potential Clark vs Reese, Clark vs Beuckers, Clark vs Hidalgo matchups, and I could even see them being petty enough to screw either us or USC out or a 1 seed just so they can get a potential Clark vs JuJu matchup because Iowa making the Final Four is no guarantee by any means.

That makes a lot of sense. I think they’ll have Iowa and South Carolina in Albany as one seeds. And then Stanford, Southern California and Texas all out in Portland with one of the two PAC 12 teams matched up with Texas. That’s what concerns me is that LSU would either be a two with the remaining number one seed in Portland, Stanford or Southern California or out east in Albany as the two seed opposite Iowa. For a number of reasons I’d rather play almost anyone but LSU. That game would be a circus.

I agree about not wanting to play LSU. I’m not afraid to play them as a basketball opponent. It’s more out of concern for our girls’ safety and well being that I don’t want to play them. I’m not ok with the cheap shots and drama they bring to every game and would prefer our girls be shielded from that this year if possible.

It was fun to see South Carolina beat LSU. And then for LSU to act like they were wronged in some fashion with all the shenanigans LSU was pulling the entire game. If Iowa doesn’t win it, I’m happy with ABLSU. Anyone But LSU.

I thought Iowa was a 1 seed.

Sorry for the confusion. Regarding the thread title, also look at the date the thread was started, which was Feb 29th. ;)

The 68-team bracket will be announced March 17 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.

If the season had ended on Wednesday, Feb 28, what follows would have been the 4 brackets and the Top 16 teams. At that time, as you can see, if both teams had kept winning, Iowa would have faced South Carolina in the Elite 8.

Obviously, things have changed over the last 12 days. Iowa has played it's way into a #1 seed and a top 4 overall seed.

Where things stood at the end of the day, Feb 28th:

Albany 1

1 South Carolina
7 IOWA
12 Oregon State
16 Oklahoma

Portland 4
4 UCLA
5 Virginia Tech
10 UConn
15 Gonzaga

Portland 3
3 Stanford
6 Texas
11 NC State
14 Indiana

Albany 2
2 Ohio State
8 Southern California
9 LSU
13 Colorado

That would be about perfect. UConn can be dangerous but they are about 7th on my list of teams not to play. I’m still worried it will be LSU with Iowa.

Are they even selling tickets for the entire arena??? Looking at stubhub it doesn’t appear they are
Not for the entire session looks like lower ones are all bought and being gamed out. I have 2 lower bowls in there premium seats I may be going to sell. I am not sure yet but would let them go for face. I had to buy 4 but only needed 2. But I’m not sure yet.

There is absolutely ZERO chance that Iowa does not get a 1 seed after this weekend. In the last week they took down #2 OSU, won the B1G tourney again and went up to #2 in the AP. They have the 6th or 7th toughest SOS as well. Everyone who does these polls has then as a #1. Plus LSU lost, and Stanford lost.

That would be about perfect. UConn can be dangerous but they are about 7th on my list of teams not to play. I’m still worried it will be LSU with Iowa.

South Carolina has shown that they are beatable. They've come extremely close to getting knocked off.

If LSU ever got their sheet together, they SHOULD be a very dangerous team.

I think with some luck Iowa could be back in the title game.

We'll see.

I will begrudgingly take that over UConn or LSU.

NC State is the ideal team I'd want to see in that 3 seed. Also, let's get Oregon State in the 4 instead of Colorado. I know they're a scrappy team, but we've seen Colorado and what they're capable of, even though they've struggled a bit down the stretch.

LSU vs UConn would be the Sweet 16 matchup. I would hold my nose & root for UConn ;)

Iowa is in great shape; if both teams keep winning, Iowa would not face #1 overall seed South Carolina until the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! Just don't tell @EvilMonkeyInTheCloset ;)

My only worry is that the committee often likes to shake things up for the sake of being unpredictable.......and for ratings.

We know where Iowa should go.......but will they decide they'd rather have a greatest hits tour waiting for Caitlin Clark and put as many marquee teams in our path as possible?

Iowa will get you the ratings no matter who they play, that has been obvious all season. So if ratings is the goal, spread out the quality to increase the other games. LSU South Carolina had 2 million viewers. In a high stakes game Iowa is virtually guaranteed to get 3 million.

IMO, a regional with these 4 teams would get great viewership.

An Iowa/UCLA Regional Final would be pretty cool, too.
