Understanding it and agreeing with it or two separate things.A JUCO would have multiple years of eligibility is one reason to not do this. We all know the reputation Crean got by not renewing scholarships.
And yet some can't understand this...

I hope my sarcasm detector is not broken.Getting Connor back is the better than any potential transfer at guard. Does another Big 10 team have a guard transfer coming in better than Connor? 25-30 minutes of intangible's.
Decent bench with Sandfort, Kris, and Ulis. Maybe some minutes from Mulvey

Imagine if we skipped over this guy because we have Connor lolNijel Pack from Kansas State just entered the portal. Looks like his lead recruiter at Iowa was Sherman Dillard, but we never offered out of high school. He's from Indy so I assume he would know of Perkins through the AAU circuit. He averaged 17 points per game last year. Yes, please!
I can see us giving Laketa a scholarship in that same scenarioImagine if we skipped over this guy because we have Connor lol
I understand your skepticism, but I sure hope they wouldn't do that. This would be a great addition depending on where they see Bowen playing.Imagine if we skipped over this guy because we have Connor lol
Fran will not bring in a point guard as the offense is too complicated per Brian Ferentz.Fran is not going to add a PG from the portal. Could maybe look for a shooter, but they would have to be willing to take a smaller role and come off the bench. Ultimately, Fran will probably get a big from the portal then bank any remaining scholarships.
I would not be surprised to see Ulis transfer out.I’m also still not sold that Ulis won’t transfer. I can see him being put in the same cycle as Touissant. Connor even playing 5 minutes a game at the point is ridiculous.
more then 1I’ll take this wager. Define extended.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^I think they feel like Bowen can come in and handle the 1 or 2 along with help from Ulis/Perkins. Their more immediate need is a big. I would rather they go after a defensive shot blocking, rebounding big than a stretch which seems to always be their mo.
Derp to you and derp to that pansy @Bulldogs1974 who, once again, has no clue.more then 1
Fran said a day or two ago his 'end of year convo' with Ulis went well and he expects him back.I would not be surprised to see Ulis transfer out.
Nope, not broken. Will be an interesting season next year, 30+ minutes a game with Connor at PG. Like Linderbaum last season in football, best recruiting job Fran did to bring back an impact player.I hope my sarcasm detector is not broken.
Sorry, but NONE of Sandfort/Pmac/Kris Murray should ever be playing the 2 guard for a top 25 level team....Thats just filling spots with players on the roster and settling.no, he isn't.
Bowen/Ulis/Perkins/CMac/Dix are all capable combo guards. Then you have Sandfort/PMac/Kris Murray that can get minutes at times at the 2.
Then yes, Kingsbury and Laketa would be guys that could contribute if needed.
We'll be fine in the backcourt with or without adding someone from the portal.
Portal is going to be a big.
Sure there is because they cheat their ass off. How many times has KU been caught and put on probation? Hell this last time what was it five top level infractions and still NO penalty has been assessed?Kansas Basketball pre fall 2021: Bill Self recruits two portal point guards to KU, neither of which is starting, but Remy Martin plays a big role. The big boys stockpile talent and let things shake out. There’s a reason why they are in a final four.

Iowa will be picked lower in the conference again, should finish higher, Fran definitely has the offense figured out. Will be interesting to see without Keegan though
Do you basketball bruh?Nope, not broken. Will be an interesting season next year, 30+ minutes a game with Connor at PG. Like Linderbaum last season in football, best recruiting job Fran did to bring back an impact player.

For the least amount of threes taken.Connor led the team in 3pt shooting in conference play this year FWIW.
Connor can be a walkon.Imagine if we skipped over this guy because we have Connor lol
I use https://evanmiya.com/ -- his rankings utilize more predictive metrics.Antbody have a link to the portal that shows names?
Iowa is losing Keegan, JBo, Joe T, and Josh, as well as Austin Ash on a scholarship and only adding two guards in Dix and Bowen. Fran better get at least a guard and one or two big men if possible as well as Shaw if he can sign him. At least bring in the Iona kid.
Ronman I respect you as a poster. But to hope someone does not return to the team next year because some messages board posters are negative is really not a valid reason.I hope McCaffery is taking a look at a lot of players in the portal as, as far as I'm concerned, we may not have seen the last of the defectors. I would like him to find a big wing scorer and a rim protector, both of which have pride in their defense. I would rather that Connor had decided to not come back, just because of the divisiveness he causes on here, but it sounds as though he is going to use his covid year and thus will play quite a bit. If Dix is truly healthy, great! I'm also hoping Perkins continues his quality play and Sandfort finds some consistency and develops into a scoring source we can count on.
But that was the choice. Fran's choice. And why some of us would consider it wasted.Fran decided not to do that - he didn't "choose" between Ash and someone else - he had his team set, had an extra scholly and gave it to Ash.
It's perfectly understandable to wonder why he didn't go grab another player, but that's a whole different conversation than giving a scholly to Ash.
Except I actually think Phinisee's shot will go in when he shootsPoor man's Joe Toussaint.
Waste of a scholly. So, how did you feel about Ash getting one last year?
And yet Joe's Effective Field Percentage was 74 points higher than Phinisee's this year. Weird huh?Except I actually think Phinisee's shot will go in when he shoots
Joe T was like that spin toy in the wood box. It was out of control and then ran out of steam. And yet Joe's Effective Field Percentage was 74 points higher than Phinisee's this year. Weird huh?
With a PER that was 7 points higher than Phinisee's. You would prefer a guy that was worse statistically in pretty much every way?Joe T was like that spin toy in the wood box. It was out of control and then ran out of steam.
Yes.With a PER that was 7 points higher than Phinisee's. You would prefer a guy that was worse statistically in pretty much every way?
Makes sense. 🙄Yes.
If not for the I O W A on the front of the jersey, he's dead to me.
I would not seemed surprised!I can see us giving Laketa a scholarship in that same scenario
Your opinion, for what it is worth.I am not lost lol. I am just making the comment that he is playing extended minutes at basketball for this team. He deserves 0 mins imo. Hopefully he leaves the program or becomes an assistant coach.
