I haven’t read through all of this, and no one would accuse me of being a trump supporter. I’m from NJ, I’ve hated that man since the mid 80s. But until 2016, I voted R most of my life.

I spent my whole career in NY institutional real estate. Trump is who he is…. But did he do anything everyone in this town doesn’t do?

accredited investors are expected to do their own diligence and that moves a lot of liability and responsibility off the entity. Banks are a whole different animal. They have entire diligence teams whose job it is to comb through all of it.

It’s literally their job. The bank took someone’s word for something when they literally employ people whose whole job it is is to check veracity.

The investors (equity holders) assumed the management risk associated with operations.

The bank failed to do its job; did the bank bring suit? If not, wtf is the DA involved.

I completely understand what you are saying, but we've seen underwriters be stupid and/or defrauded before. The way this reads it was egregious. I agree with you that there is an amount of responsibility in these that the underwriters share. What you are asking about is the one piece of this puzzle that doesn't really make sense to me.
