Update: Noah Shannon CLEARED TO PRACTICE. 26 UI student-athletes investigated for online gambling, incl in FB, Men’s BB, Baseball, T&F & Wrestling

They need time to sip their tea and eat their crumpets and to ponder it.

I'd like to know the names of the people on this committee.
Oh my, I bet they'd just roll over and give it up if they knew you had their names and the wrath of a pistachio was coming down upon them!

Not that the public needed more examples, but the NCAA has truly shown what a complete joke of a governing and regulatory body they are.

This would be comical were it not costing these athletes playing time and potentially money at the next level.
I hope it comes out why or the media is relentless in getting to what made the NCAA buckle.

Free Noah Shannon!

Maybe we'll get some good news this week or early next week.

Sadly this is not surprising. I'd love is there were grounds for a lawsuit for this kind of garbage... affecting draft stock by taking months to re-review a garbage decision in the first place.

An ADULT legally gambling on a sport that he has no ties to. Way to go NCAA you are really keeping things in order.

Maybe go look at your fair catch rules, I heard there's a lot in that rule that doesn't make sense.... Might cost a game for someone someday and have major gambling implications.

Maybe Noah can still get 5 games in.

3 reg season games starting Nov 11
B1G Championship....maybe....
Bowl game

Bottom line is, once again, an Iowa football player has gotten totally screwed by the NCAA
I still remember the Drew Ott case of course and if you really think back there was a case about a LB from California maybe (Julian Smith) that was literally pulled from the practice field in fall camp due to 'Clearinghouse Issues', anyone remember that case? I think a family member used to post here circa 2005 when that was going on.

The NCAA needs to be drastically reformed. I mean, Noah placed, what, one bet?

I'm telling ya, the NCAA is purposely dragging this out. He won't be cleared until the bowl game...if then.

It's their way of flexing their muscles.
Pisses me off. When it's the corrupt coaches from the blue bloods (remember basketball) nothing ever happens to them. They have NO problem dragging a kid through the mud though.

Amazing how it may take a year, or more, in the Michigan cheating case. Had Noah kept his mouth shut, he might have missed no games.

Players implicated in gambling=immediate suspension. Program implicated in cheating="We'll see where it leads".

What is the yardage penalty? I don’t think there really is a penalty in the game for this.
Good question. I couldn't find anything on Google search. I would guess if Shannon played the opposing coach would point it out, and the refs would call unsportsmanlike conduct?
